Stand Up - Nino Birthday Picspam
Today we celebrate the birth of Ninomiya Kazunari - actor, musician, prankster, magician, and all around adorable brat. For the last year, he's influenced my thoughts and spurred my drama-watching decision-making. He's made me laugh and cry and occasionally laugh so hard I cry. He's adorable and awkward and makes faces that no idol should make, but damn if I don't love him for that. He's short and skinny and isn't a big fan of food. But at the end of the day, when I need someone there to make me smile, I know I can turn to my Neen and there's my grin. Happy birthday, Neeners. I adore you and I hope you have had a wonderful day. <3
I've been wanting to do a tribute to the show Stand Up!! for a while now. It isn't much, but I hope you enjoy. :D
MINOR SPOILERS: For the drama Stand Up!! Nothing earth shattering, but there it is.
The first drama I watched (after Hanadan *cough*totallyJun-baited*cough*) once I got into fandom was Stand Up!!, the story of four high school boys trying (and not trying) to lose their virginity before the last few months of high school. It was the show that humanized Japanese culture for me and made me realize that all boys, regardless of culture or background, are pervs. I find this reassuring. Asai Shouhei, played by Nino, was the first drama character that I really loved. He's that guy I just knew I'd fall for if I'd known him in high school - awkward and sweet and dorky and he tries SO HARD to be cool and fails. How do you not love him?
There are so many classic and awesome scenes in this drama, but these three are what makes it for me (I realize I included the ENTIRE first episode, but it's all important! I couldn't leave anything out. >.>).
