This study aims to present a bibliometric analysis of the genetics research output of Iranian authors, map the intellectual structure of these studies and investigate the development path of this literature and the interrelationships among the main topics. Design/methodology/approach This study searched the Web of Science database for documentation of Iranian-published genetics research published up to 2020. Further, this study used HistCite software to profile and analyze the most cited articles and references and to draw their historiographies. Findings A database search revealed 21,329 documents that created the study population. The highest cited publications based on the Global Citation Score (GCS) and Local Citation Score (LCS) achieved scores of 602 and 47, respectively. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate Iranian Medical English Journals (IMEJ) based on Scopus’ journal selection criteria. This is a descriptive quantitative study which deals with the last issues of 52 numbers of IMEJ which have not been indexed in Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed. Data is collected using a researcher-developed checklist whose validity was confirmed by faculty members. Microsoft Office Excel was used to analyze data. According to our findings, the studied journals were in compliance with Scopus’ journal selection criteria in the cases regularity in publishing, providing informative abstracts for articles, limiting the amount of self-citation, providing XML format for articles, providing the online system for sending and receiving the articles, and providing author's guidelines. The low amount of structured abstracts, the low number of foreign authors and editors, and the low amount of Endnote output were the most important weakness in IMEJ. Suggested solutions were promoting the cooperation with foreign editors and authors, and providing structured abstracts, and EndNote outputs by journals and authors.

This study aims to map the research trends in the field of stem cell research in Iran by presenting a systematic and analytical bibliometrics approach based on data from the Web of Science database.
Methods
In this study, we provide a visualization overview of the distribution of stem cell publications in Iran. The HistCite software was used to draw and analyze the historiographical maps, based on Global Citation Score (GSC) and Local Citation Score (LCS) in order to indicate the most frequent thematic trends. The accuracy of clustering and classification of scientific fields is enhanced by the incorporation of algorithms and main bibliometric analysis.
Results
A total of 5123 records were collected from the Web of Science database in 2020. The most prolific author had a GCS of 5890 and the most productive university earned GCS of 13677. “Cell Journal,” with 186 records contributed the highest number of publications. The highest cited document based on GSC had a score of 646 and the highest cited article based on LCS had a score of 71. We documented regular growth in outputs. In addition, the scientific maps based on LCS and GCS have been drawn. The prominent, distinguished areas of study revolve around differentiation, generation, proliferation, and the therapeutic use of stem cells as well as “genotoxicity in stem cells”, “mesenchymal stem cells” and “embryonic stem cells”. Journal articles were the predominant document type.
Conclusion
Research on stem cells is a biomedical venture with great scientific impact, and its development in Iran is undeniable. This study provides an overview and a framework for the weaknesses and strengths of Iranian research outputs on stem cells, representing the main clusters in scientific maps. We hope that our results help researchers to plan future studies and promote their research productions.

Genetics, a discipline of biology, is one of the most recent and rapidly advancing disciplines in science. This study aims to present a bibliometric analysis of the genetics research output of Iranian authors, map the intellectual structure of these studies and investigate the development path of this literature and the interrelationships among the main topics.
Design/methodology/approach
This study searched the Web of Science database for documentation of Iranian-published genetics research published up to 2020. Further, this study used HistCite software to profile and analyze the most cited articles and references and to draw their historiographies.

The highest cited publications based on the Global Citation Score (GCS) and Local Citation Score (LCS) achieved scores of 602 and 47, respectively. The publication growth rate study demonstrated consistent expansion over time. The scientific maps based on LCS and GCS had five and four clusters, respectively. Furthermore, journal articles emerged as the predominant type of publication.
Practical implications
The significance of this study is in its contribution to understanding the genetics research position in Iran, informing policymakers and researchers, helping scientific collaboration and its impact on public attitudes and quality of life. The results of the present study, with benefits for various groups of communities, such as policymakers, academic groups and public society, can bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical implications.
Social implications
The results of this study, by helping future advancement in health care, medical genetics and disease prevention, may have a direct and indirect positive influence on the quality of life. Furthermore, it may lead to more informed discussions on health care and biotechnology as well as influencing public attitudes and perceptions.
Originality/value
Ultimately, this study concludes that despite the proliferation of publications in terms of quantity and complexity, especially in areas such as disease diagnosis, prevention and treatment, there remains a need for more attention to other facets of genetics such as biology and biotechnology. Iranian publications are most related to population genetics, human genetics, molecular genetics, medical genetics, genomics, developmental genetics and evolutionary genetics out of 10 branches of genetics. This study reveals patterns in scientific outputs and authorship collaborations and plays an alternative and innovative role in revealing Iranian research trends in genetics.

The present study aimed to assess the conformity of Iranian medical journals written in English that are not indexed in Scopus database with its objective acceptance criteria. Methods: The current applied descriptive study assessed the latest issues of 52 Iranian medical journals written in English that were not indexed in Scopus database. Data were collected through observing the journals' websites and using a checklist. The collected data were analyzed in Excel software. Results: The results showed that 32.7% of the journals did not have foreign editors and 59.6% did not have foreign authors. According to the results, 77.6% of abstracts were structured. In addition, the amount of self-citations was low and more than 70% of journals were being publish...

One of the new ways providing services is virtual reference services. This study is conducted with the aim of determining the current status of providing virtual references services in college libraries of five medical science universities of Tehran. Materials and methods: this is an applied research, which was carried out through a survey descriptive. Data was gathered using a researcherdeveloped questionnaire that was answered by 31 library managersof five medical science universities of Tehran. We used SPSS software version 16 to analyze the collected data. Results: the results showed that %90 of the library managers had B.sc degree or higher. 29% of the libraries use email, % 3/2 use chat and %3/2 use short message system (SMS) for providing virtual reference services. None of the libraries use video conference. %40 of ShahidBeheshti University of Medi...
