On the one hand, it is difficult to appeal to the sensory organs of a theatre or movie
audience in order to provoke a real olfactory perception. On the other hand, the same
perception may be recreated by stimulating the audience’s imagination and memory, by
recalling the olfactory experiences they had in the past (with words, images, colours and
so on).
