going mostly friends-only folks
Sep. 22nd, 2022 | 11:39 am
I don't update here too often anymore, so I'm going mostly friends only. Drawing, photography and fandom entries that I'm fond of will stay public though :). You can find me elsewhere posting quite a bit on my Tumblr and Deviantart.

retiring super old domain name
Jun. 2nd, 2012 | 11:11 am
I've decided it's about time I retire my (very old) domain name sodapowered.com. I just haven't been using it all that much, so it's not worth paying any money for at this point. Plus, I'd prefer to focus my energy on web design projects that I can put in my portfolio for career purposes only. I've had a lot of fun making layouts for it over the years, and the above images are some of favorites or most recent.
I will be keeping a link list site up at flavors.me/glassvines.

linzer heart cookies
Feb. 12th, 2012 | 08:32 pm
mood: good
Made some linzer heart cookies this weekend! Couldn't believe how hard it was to find some heart-shaped cookie cutters, geez. I had to check out around 5-6 stores (come on guys, it's February - you know, Valentine's Day?) before I found what I needed at Walmart.
Anyway. They came out okay, but I think I rushed the mixing portion a bit too much? They could taste better. (I used this recipe.) At least they look cute! I'll have to do the mixing a little more slowly next time; maybe try out another recipe too.

new posters for my room!
Feb. 5th, 2012 | 12:59 pm
mood: yesss
So I just recently watched all three of the Evil Dead films for the first time, and enjoyed them a lot. Then I discovered this Japanese movie poster for Army of Darkness and knew I had to have it. Since I was on Amazon for a re-print of the poster, I decided to grab myself one of those Doctor Who Dalek posters I've been wanting forever as well.
(That's my kitty Perla up there! First photo of her that I've put online.) The quality for the Army of Darkness poster's not the best, but that's understandable as I think the original was apparently a little smaller than the re-print I bought. I wanted it to be larger than 11x17, so, it's a bit pixelated and missing some of the green margins/edges. The poster's so darned busy though that it's hard to tell, haha. Anyway, these look great on my wall and make me smile.

So I live really close to the "Old Town" area of the city I live in, which happens to be choke-full of great antique, vintage and gifts shops. I love going there on the weekends just to window shop, waste money on macarons, take photography and get inspired by what I see there.
Notably, the male-oriented vintage store has improved upon what it stocks over the years, and I pretty much nearly fainted from awesome when I walked in today. The guy at the register was dressed up "dapper" style, complete with a curly mustache and upon seeing me said "good day m'lady!" The "m'lady" greeting flattered me so severely I was caught off-guard and only managed to squeak out a "yes!" hahaha.
Anyway, the front of the store had a case full of false eyes and asked for permission to take a couple of photos.
These stores kind of frown upon people taking pictures and not buying anything, and there were too many people in the store for me to try and sneak any more pictures. Otherwise I would have snapped a couple more photos of the mounted pig head wearing a fez.

Christmas decorations are up! I still need to buy a wreath and some Christmas flowers, but for the most part the decorations are done for my house. I bought some more ornaments over Thanksgiving break, so my faux tree doesn't look so bare this year. Grandma bought me these lovely vintage diorama creche scene ornaments:
So awesome ♥. I'm also almost done with my Christmas cards, whoo go team! Now I just have to figure out what to buy gift-wise and I can stop stressing. I plan on watching lots of Christmas specials this year so I can soak up the holiday spirit properly. (Darn it Netflix, where is The Muppet Christmas Carol?)

Sorry for neglecting you LJ. Just haven't had much to talk about lately. I am boring, what can I say? I do have some arts though! Here's some drawings that I've posted to Deviantart or Tumblr recently (artwork subjects: original, Soul Eater, Alice: Madness Returns, Adventure Time and Homestuck):
( as well as my SE Ladyfest entry!Collapse )
