• Se il verbo termina in Y, la Y rimane e si aggiunge -ING.
EXAMPLE:
Reply -> reply + ING -> replying
Play -> play + ING -> playing
• Se i verbi hanno l’ultima sillaba accentata e terminano con una consonante questa
raddoppia.
EXAMPLE:
Begin -> begin + ING -> beginning
Stop -> stop + ING -> stopping
Travel -> travel + ING -> travelling
QUANDO SI USA IL PRESENTCONTINUOUS?
Il present continuous si usa:
1. Per raccontare qualcosa che si sta svolgendo nel momento stesso in cui si parla:
EXAMPLE:
1. We’re not going to school at the moment.
Al momento non stiamo andando a scuola.
2. I’m watching TV.
Sto guardando la TV.
2. Per parlare di situazioni temporanee
EXAMPLE:
Our internet isn’t working this week.
La nostra rete internet non funzionerà questa settimana.
3. Per parlare di situazioni che stanno cambiando o si stanno sviluppando:
EXAMPLE:
The weather is getting warmer.
Il clima si sta surriscaldando.
4. Per descrivere delle azioni che vediamo in foto:
EXAMPLE:
In this picture, three girls are swimming in the sea.
In questa foto, ci sono tre ragazze che nuotano (che stanno nuotando) nel mare.
