Dr. Fetvaci joined the University of Istanbul in October 2004 where he is now a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering from the Technical Universtiy of Istanbul in 1989, 1992, and 2001. He retired in 2022.

Bu çalışmanın amacı evolvent dişlilerin imalatında kullanılan pinyon-tipi takımın literatürde mev... more Bu çalışmanın amacı evolvent dişlilerin imalatında kullanılan pinyon-tipi takımın literatürde mevcut matematik modellerinin karşılaştırılmasıdır. İncelemede Litvin'in Vektör Yaklaşımını esas alan çalışmalar göz önüne alınmıştır. Kesici takımın profil denklemleri, koordinat dönüşüm, diferansiyel geometri ve dişli teorisi uygulanarak imal eden ve imal edilen yüzeyler tanımlanmıştır. Verilen matematik modellerden hareketle evolvent düz dişli grafiklerini oluşturmak için bilgisayar programları geliştirilmiştir. Karşılaştırılan makalelerde farklı düzenlemiş denklemlerle özdeş geometrilerin elde edildiği görülmüştür.

Dişli teorisi esas alınarak evolvent profilli kesici takımların ve imal edilen dişlilerin matematik modelleri verilmiştir. Profil kaydırma ve asimetrik profil gibi tashihler de göz önüne alınmıştır. Matematik modellerden hareketle bilgisayar programları geliştirilmiş, evolvent profilli helisel dişlilerin bilgisayar grafikleri elde edilmiştir. 3-Boyutlu katı model ve sonlu eleman modelleri gösterilmiştir. Bu simülasyonla imalattan önce takım dizayn parametrelerinin dişli geometrisi üzerindeki etkileri incelenebilir.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to define Design For Assembly (DFA) technique in the light of c... more ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to define Design For Assembly (DFA) technique in the light of concurrent engineering methodology, determine the principles and manifest these principle effects on an application through comparison. There is a re-design process in glass block holder and blocks of an automation machine which is used in glass production industry. The 3D models of the original and new design have been made by using SolidWorks 2006. The new design is made in the light of DFA and with paying attention to the Boothroyd &amp; Dewhurst method. The re-designed mold is applied to large volume production process and healthy results were obtained. At the end of this part, the tables which are derived from the old and new data are prepared and their comparison is made.

By applying profile equations of the rack cutter, the principle of coordinate transformation, the theory of differential geometry, and the theory of gearing, the mathematical models of involute helical gear is given. The paper presents aspects regarding the utilisation of computer programmes for computer aided design graphical modelling of cylindrical gears with asymmetric involute teeth. Software applications in the domain of computing the points that define the profile and the line of tooth flanks, as well as their 2 and 3 D representation are performed.

Appropriate solution of shape and materials of hooks enables the increase of loading capacity of hoisting machines. In this study, exact solution method as an application of curved beam theory to simple hooks is presented. To investigate the static stress results, both finite element method and exact solution method are applied. An illustrative example is given to compare the stress results obtained by finite element and exact solution methods.

Based on the theory of gearing the mathematical models of generating cutter with asymmetric involute teeth and generated involute gears are given. Beveloid (conical involute) gears are considered for a generalized type of involute gearing for connecting parallel shafts. Effective limits of involute design parameters that determine the actual tip circle radii of the generated gears are investigated. An approach based on contact path of mating gears is proposed to eliminate further operations for standard value of tip circle radius. Computer simulation programs are developed to obtain graphs of generating tools and generated teeth surfaces.

Trochoidal envelope traced by cutter is investigated. Computer graphs of asymmetric involute helical gears are presented based on the given model, and also generation simulation is illustrated.

Generating and generated surfaces are obtained by using vector analysis, differential geometry, matrix transformation, and meshing equation. Trochoidal envelope traced by the cutter during generating process is also investigated. This study also develops a computer program for generation of external and internal tooth profiles. Simulated motion path of the cutter during generation process is also illustrated. Using the given method, designers can create and observe geometry simulation. The effect of tool settings on the generated profile can easily be investigated before manufacturing.

The asymmetry means that different pressure angles are applied for the driving and coast sides. By applying the equations of the designed profile of the rack cutter, the principle of coordinate transformation, the theory of differential geometry, and the theory of gearing, the mathematical models of involute helical gear are given. Undercutting analysis is also investigated by considering the relative velocity and equation of meshing. Furthermore, a computer simulation program is developed to generate the tooth profile of asymmetric involute gears and to illustrate the effect of tool geometry on the generated surfaces. A CAD/FEM procedure for finite element modeling of asymmetric gear teeth is presented. This simulation should be helpful in the design and manufacture of asymmetric gears.

A computer program is developed to display computer graphs of the spur gears with asymmetric involute teeth. The simulated motion path of the generating cutter is illustrated. The developed computer programs are very helpful in the design of involute gears.

A computer program is developed to display computer graphs of the spur gears with asymmetric involute teeth. The simulated motion path of the generating cutter is illustrated. The developed computer programs are very helpful in the design of involute gears.
