I Went and Got My New Bike Today!

Got all my custom gear retrofitted over onto the new bike and now my old new bike looks and feels strange to ride with out it. While we were there, we found the perfect bike for cheapcarnival. I'd looked at this very bike on Trek's website and though she'd like it, but didn't think she'd like the color. You know, I was thinking Damn, too bad the butterfly paint job was on a Madone and cost $500,000. hahahaha. She'd love that thing. And I'm always looking at reds and oranges when picking colors for her. Never mind she likes muted colors too, like puce and olive. So why in the world wouldn't she like a soft olive bike? Well she DID like it and said several times that she liked it, so we got it out and had her take it for a ride with me while I tested out the positions of my handles. Thus, we came to the Village Cyclery with one bike (my old one for the removing of gear) and came back with three. Here's mine. I had cheapcarnival take pix of me, but I realize now that most people pose behind their bike. I was standing on the side I mount from though after walking it up from the car. You can of course click on any image to see the full size version. They're about 800x600.

Anyone looking for a good mid range bike to buy that they want to last forever (instead of a couple three years before they are worn out as a Wal-Mart or Kmart bike will be) I strongly recommend Trek Bikes. They make a wide variety to suit all sorts of riding habits. Not only are these bikes super solid and lightweight, well made and well designed. They are also made in the US by a US company. Yes. Trek does have some of it's frames made in the Giant factory in Taiwan, but they are mostly made in the US and the ones made at the Giant plant are made under very strict supervision by Trek. So all you "Buy American" people, I encourage you to buy Trek. If that doesn't convince you, then remember how many Tours de France Lance Armstrong has won riding bikes made by Trek, including his most recent win straight out of three years retirement when no one in the world though he could do it his first year back out. That $500,000 for the butterfly paint job? Donated to the Armstrong Foundation to fight cancer, along with proceeds from about 10 other custom painted Madone's.

And yes... As a matter of fact, I do have a dozen little braids in my hair held back with a big barrette. This is hardly anything unexpected for me. And I made that skirt too, specifically to wear over bike shorts and tights and things. Not bad for a first, but I think when I make the next one I'll make it a little shorter, and I don't really care for the pineapples. I want to make a square skirt.

Techie Wigging

ZOMG I want one of these! haha... How cool is this!? It's a watch, an mp3 player, a camera, a CELL PHONE, with bluetooth and all kinds of other junk. Just freaking YAY!

I discovered that they made MP3 watches today and was just kind of digging around to see what I could find. Not like I can afford to buy anything right now, but I wanted to see... I had NO idea they made one that was a camera phone too. Holy crap! Click through the picture for more info.

10. Things I want.

I just made this up. You do it too.
(on your own LJ! Where everyone can see it!)

1.) A wireless printer cable? uh.. Yah, like one of these: HP Wireless Printing Upgrade Kit So that I can print no matter WHERE in the house my computer is. That would be ideal. I hate having to take my laptop back into my room again just because I want to print some little thing.

2.) My copy of Shogun back. Did I lend that to someone who reads here and not get it back? or did my last roommate take that along with all my Sims games, Final Fantasy 7, 8, and 9 and probably a lot of my other Cd's? (want those back too actually)

3.) Maybe I could update my resumé and send it to that guy. I want to do that. I want that job. Why haven't I?

4.) Yarn. Of course I want yarn. I love yarn. And I really could stand one of those things to put it in. Yes. I think I will start doing like duskrider3740 though and wind my skeins into balls as soon as I get them so that they take up less space.

5.) Ok... that means I want a ball winder. This right here would be just about perfect. Yarn Ball Winder Hand-operated.

6.) A circular knitting machine. (for to make soxes with)

7.) I want a winter membership to a health club where I can just go and ride the life cycles two or three times a week when it's too cold and awful out to ride my bike. Ideally someplace I didn't have to buy a contract, that I could just pay as I go.. either a few buxx every time I want to ride the lifecycles, (like going to the skating rink you know?) or a certain amount a month with no contract. Just if I pay for a month, I get to go for a month, and once the weather breaks and I can ride outside, I'm not longer obligated to pay them or go there.

8.) I want to study Wing Chun at Mengs.

9.) I want whatever is causing that drip around my main drain to be fixed. Someone feel free to volunteer to take a look at this. I do not understand why there are all these O clamps on my main drain. Is that supposed to be that way?

10.) I want my friends to also issue a statement of 10 things they want.

Note on this: Try to keep these positive things. Or at least things that maybe someone can help you with. My idea here is not to vent about things you want that it makes you angry or unhappy that you don't have. Just things that it is possible you could get that would really make you happy or give you some small joy or enjoyment.

ETA: I just sent that resumé That's one thing on my list and I just gave it to myself.

Shoooe!

I've just reminded myself of how I ADORE THIS SHOE!!! And want it badly.

Thankfully I found a Jenner by Mudd today and it's almost as cute.  Unfortunately, I think I bought the last pair ever to exist on the planet though because I totally cannot find this shoe ANYWHERE online to show you a picture of it. So you get to see the cute kitten heel instead. ^_^ Which I still want.  BADLY.  ZOMG it's so cute... when the hell did I become a shoe freak anyway?

Anime

So I was sitting here playing Final Fantasy II (the original Final Fantasy II for NES, not Final Fantasy IV as released in the US under the name Final Fantasy II) on ROM on my computer this afternoon, trying to think of old animes that have long been on my list that I've never seen.  Well... Of course The Vision of Escaflowne comes to mind.  So I downloaded the first episode.  At the start I'm thinking... Oh no... high school girls in sailor suits with mini skirts... athletics... girls mooning over a boy...

Couple that with noses drawn so that the tips come to such an extreme point that they actually look rather like those curl tipped elf shoes we all know and love.   Well, other than that one thing the art style is actually quite beautifully done.  I often wonder why an artist would take a beautiful style and ad something bizarre like that all the characters have to have super long ultra pointed noses with loopty loops on the end. What's up with that?

Anyway, so I get about halfway through the episode and I'm thinking.. ok... if this stays in high school for the whole episode there so will not be a second one downloaded and I will wonder forever why I have heard people rave about this anime.  Well thankfully this main character redeems herself a little... first by the fact that she knows how to use the tarot, and second by the fact that she has and to some degree understands her visions.  Next redeeming factor was the ultra dimensional teleportation that happened, and the dragon was enough to bring me to a second episode.  So yah... I guess I'm must going to have to put aside my feelings about those curly noses.  Now five episodes in, I find that I actually care about what happens in this world, and want to see it.

Edit: Why is it that the first five episodes of this anime were in the proper Japanese, but now all I can find is English Dubbed... and it's not even marked as English dubbed. What's up with that? The VA's aren't as bad as some in this one.. I've seen worse. One thing I would like to know though is where in the world do they find these people that every L and R they say is a hard L or R? Who in the world still stresses them so harshly like that? ARRR! Come on... I Live in the midwest, home of the hard stressed R... and nobody I know pronounces them like that.
