Anonymous Commenting...
As of today, I am turning off anonymous commenting on my LiveJournal. The reason for this is that I am tired of having to go and delete random BS (BotShit) posts (most of which don't even make any sense) out old posts in my journal. I tried setting it to screen anonymous posts, but that hasn't worked because it still means I have to go and do something when they come in. The thing is I can delete them from my phone, but Livejournal doesn't get the spam report when I do it that way, and I don't spend as much time on the actual computer since I got my smartphone. I have to say that this is partly because when I got the smartphone, I didn't have a computer that worked very well, having had to retire my 'new' computer and bring out my 'old' Sony Vaio with it's tiny screen. So in the mean time, I have developed different Internet habits, including reading my email and my friends list from my phone most of the time now rather than sitting in front of a computer. It's a more dynamic connection that leaves me more out in the world doing the stuff that I do now rather than spending a lot of time sitting in front of a computer. You may have noticed that my posting has changed quite a bit too. I do most of my posting from my phone, and there are a lot more Pictures involved because LiveJournal has made it easier for me to post my pictures and I just caption then as I go along like with my bed entry.
The end result of this action though, is that the few people who do read my LiveJournal who do not themselves have LiveJournal accounts are going to need to either log in using one of their alternate Id's and not just be anonymous. It's not like it used to be where you only had two options. Now besides your LiveJournal ID, you can also use Facebook, Twitter, OpenID, Google, Mail.RU and Vkontakte (whatever those last two are. I think they are Russian services) Anyway, if you don't want to come over to where the cool kids are and get a LiveJournal (and use it ftw), then you'll need to use one of your other logins to comment on my entries. And I do encourage comments. Meanwhile, I'm outy. I got a lot of Live Journal to catch up on this week.
ETA: I discovered when I went to change the setting, that LiveJournal has added the ability to make anonymous users translate a Captcha image. I'm going to try that for a while and see if that gets rid of the problem or not. So for the moment, yes, you can post if you're anonymous (which is what I prefer) but you'll have to put up with the Captcha image so I don't have to keep going in and killing spam posts (hopefully).
