IOAI 2025 Mascot

Meet Z-Loong, the official mascot of IOAI 2025

Z-Loong is a lively mix of tradition and technology. Inspired by the classic Chinese Loong totem and created by students at Beijing National Day School, Z-Loong represents wisdom, courage, vitality, and growth. With its frosted, holographic scales and AI-enhanced presence, this digital dragon is more than a symbol—it acts as a dynamic ambassador, bringing the spirit of youth, innovation, and cultural legacy to the global stage of artificial intelligence.

“Initially, Loonglet—a charming AI-powered dragon mascot—was selected as the prototype to honor the bond with Beijing National Day School,” said Song Yiyang, a student from the school who designed it. As a symbol of campus spirit, Loonglet carries the memories of generations of students. In her redesign, Song preserved its friendly curves while introducing frosted metallic textures and holographic scales—blending warmth with a futuristic feel.

Her color palette reflected the school emblem’s meaning: Blue for wisdom, Red for courage, Yellow for vitality, Green for growth.

“Z-Loong’s translucent, frosted form represents limitless connection,” Song explained. “It is this generation’s link between ancestral legacy and digital frontiers.”

Transforming sketches into an AI entity required mastering collaboration with machines. “Vague prompts like ‘boost tech vibes’ didn’t work,” she laughed. Through persistent effort, Song learned to “speak the machine’s language.”

“We awakened its mind,” said Hu Yunhua from Zhipu Qingyan (ChatGLM), whose team developed Z-Loong from a static 3D model into a sentient digital dragon. “Integrated multimodal AI allows real-time vision, voice, and empathy.” Now Z-Loong engages as a dynamic ambassador, ready to lead AI-native storytelling.

When unveiled, Z-Loong became more than just a contest icon. “Tradition roots us; technology propels us,” Song reflected. By channeling the Loong totem’s spirit through algorithms, it emerged as the perfect avatar for IOAI’s China debut—where 80 global teams witnessed Chinese students redefining the language of innovation.
