To address this question our strategy was to i) reveal the experimental and analytic habits of scientists of different disciplines in the literature, and ii) use "intention" as a vector in an interdisciplinary prospect of the study of NHAs mental states. Our own intention was to outline the specific orientations and possible impasses of the ethological analytical framework which limits the consideration of NHAs intentions. We conducted a bibliometric analysis of the scientific literature published between 2016 and 2020 in two steps: 1. through a first corpus, we identified the terms used in studies of NHAs intentions and 2. on this basis, 111 articles related to intentions in NHAs were selected. Anciennement vu comme une simple reaction reflexe, le stress est aujourd'hui considere comme une reponse adaptative complexe des animaux a certaines circonstances. Ce processus, controle par le systeme nerveux central, mele emotion et cognition. Notamment, la maniere dont l'animal percoit son environnement, ainsi que les comportements qu'il peut mettre en place pour controler ou eviter un stimulus, se revelent decisifs.

This study in sheep aimed to evaluate whether total rumen emptying (TRE) results in disturbances in digestive parameters such as rumen pH, fermentation and microbial ecosystem, and whether it affects animal welfare. Eight adult wethers from two breeds offered hay and water ad libitum were rumen-emptied manually. Ruminal parameters were assessed 2 days before and 7 days after TRE. Welfare was assessed by measuring behavioural and cardiac responses to TRE involving human handling. Behavioural and cardiac measurements were performed (i) 2 h before, (ii) during and (iii) 2 h after the rumen emptying–filling session on wethers exposed to the same TRE operator. Results showed that TRE did not affect most of the digestive parameters analysed (ruminal pH, bacteria, methanogens) but did modify Dasytricha population and volatile fatty acid concentrations. Parmi les enjeux sociétaux auxquels les filières d'élevage font face, le bien-être des animaux co... more Parmi les enjeux sociétaux auxquels les filières d'élevage font face, le bien-être des animaux constitue une attente pressante. Ce texte retrace les grandes étapes d'investissement des associations de protection animale, des filières de l'élevage et des organismes de recherche dans la question du bienêtre des animaux. Une première partie montre comment les différents acteurs ont d'abord agi de manière séparée les uns des autres. Une deuxième partie illustre les rapprochements qui s'engagent entre les parties prenantes depuis quelques années avec la mise en oeuvre de stratégies partagées par le biais d'un socle scientifique. Une troisième partie présente brièvement comment la recherche a renforcé depuis une dizaine d'années ses missions d'appui auprès des pouvoirs publics, via notamment la création de centres de référence nationaux et européens.
