Description
Jets are an excellent probe for understanding the dynamics of many-body QCD interactions under extreme conditions created in heavy ion collisions (HICs) . This is because (1) they are produced during the initial state hard scattering events, and (2) their evolution from the perturbative production scale to non-perturbative hadronization scale retain imprints of various stages of quark-gluon plasma (QGP) evolution. In simpler systems such as electron-positron or proton-proton collisions, an unprecedented theoretical accuracy in jet observables has been achieved through the utilization of factorization methods. However, in HICs, a comprehensive framework to improve the predictive power and accuracy to the same level as that of simpler systems is yet to be achieved. In this seminar, I will discuss a novel open quantum system based effective field theory (EFT) approach that not only allows us to systematically separate various mechanisms of jet-medium interaction dynamics but also enables resummation of various logarithms that generally appear in fixed order perturbative computations.
