Furthering evolutionary ecology and conservation science in India: Insights from RYIM Tirupati 2026

The Regional Young Investigators Meeting (RYIM) 2026 Tirupati, titled Furthering Evolutionary Ecology and Conservation Science in India, was held at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Tirupati, from 29 to 31 January 2026, situated at the foothills of the Eastern Ghats, a biodiverse and relatively underexplored mountain range. The location provided an ideal platform to highlight research across this region, while drawing attention to the growing fields of evolutionary ecology and conservation science in smaller towns and cities across southern India.

The Regional Young Investigators’ Meeting (RYIM) Mumbai 2025 was held on 4–5 December 2025 at SVKM’s Mithibai College, Mumbai, in collaboration with the Gujarat Biotechnology University, and Kishinchand Chellaram College, HSNC University. The meeting brought together 112 participants, including young investigators, faculty, postdoctoral fellows, research scholars, clinicians, and industry professionals.

Public health in practice: PKC’s ecosystem model for disease surveillance and response

The global pandemic served as an eye-opener for the need to learn about navigating public health crises. From this crisis emerged a lesson that cannot be ignored: building a robust ecosystem that enhances communication amongst all the relevant stakeholders, especially at the city level, is crucial to mitigating public health challenges. Among the many efforts that emerged to address this need, Pune Knowledge Cluster (PKC) has taken significant strides in developing pathways towards building a comprehensive public health management framework for Pune district.
