Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTSs), a recently developed transmission technology, are widely used to boost the power transfer ability of long-distance transmission line networks and to enhance the consistency of the transmission systems. The use of FACTS devices can lead to reduced flows on heavily loaded lines, targeted bus voltage levels, and better power network stability. In this study, an optimization method based on the optimal position of the Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is suggested to boost system security. It is decided that the real power flow is the best place for the UPFC in this instance. The optimal placement during congestion has been determined using the Genetic Algorithm (GA) and the sensitivity to the useful power flow index. Congestion is produced on the network and system performance is evaluated. The proposed solutions...

The system no longer operates within its thermal limit. Unified power flow controller (UPFC) plays a very important role in the power network to enhance the performance of existing lines as well as to improve the security of the system. UPFC should be located optimally due to high capital investment. In this paper, the allocation of UPFC is obtained by sensitivity based approach in terms of change in active power flow sensitivity index so as to enhance the system performance and The test results has been implemented in the MATLAB with modified IEEE 30 bus network and the performance of the system is validated by Power World Simulator Software 16.0.

Therefore, it is the first aim to make methodology to bring power system again into secure operating region. If there will be an unavailability of proper methodology to bring the system into secure region it leads to unstable power system. Similarly in power system the severe faults results into voltage collapse and it decreases the voltage limits which leads overloading of lines. This condition can be overcome by two options i.e. by reconstruction of power system or adjusting the line parameters. In modern days Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) are used which controls different parameters of the power system and makes power system stable & improves its performance. Among the FACTS devices the Thyristor Controlled Phase Angle Regulator (TCPAR) plays an important role in increasing load ability of ...

The double level circuit is a half-bridge inverter when combined with a cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter, will increase the output voltage level to nearly twice that of a conventional cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter. The effectiveness of the proposed configuration is demonstrated with five different cases of cascaded Hbridge multilevel inverter configurations. Phase disposition carriers arrangement with sinusoidal reference has been utilised in pulse width modulation for generating the gating signal of switches to achieve high-quality output voltage waveform. A comparison is carried out with different parameters such as %total harmonic distortion, distortion factor, the maximum voltage step of output voltage level and peak inverse voltage. Analysis of power loss and theoretical calculation of %total harmonic distortion is described. Also, a new method for calculating the overall component count is discussed. As a result, the proposed configuration requires lesser component count for generating higher output voltage level with lower %total harmonic distortion. Selected simulation and experimental results are shown to verify and validate the proposed multilevel inverter configuration.

The Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) controls the power flow through the network and improves the dynamics of the power system. In this paper, the design application of the coordination of a fuzzy-based UPFC with hybrid energy storage has been proposed to enrich the system's dynamic performance during abnormal conditions and improve the hybrid energy storage performance during transients when the DC link voltage is insufficient to meet the converter voltage demand. The hybrid energy storage consists of a supercapacitor and a battery connected across the UPFC Vdc shunt capacitor. The proposed system to improve the UPFC performance during large disturbances on a multi-machine system was designed and tested in MATLAB/SIMULINK.
