Several chalcones have inhibitory activity against 3CLpro SARS-CoV and 3CLpro MERS-CoV. This study aims to predict the potential of chalcones in inhibiting 3CLpro SARS-CoV-2, which plays a role in the viral replication process. In silico research carried the prediction through molecular docking toward proteins with PDB ID 6LU7 and 6Y2F. Compound K27 has a docking score more negative than lopinavir. This result indicates that compound K27 is predicted to inhibit the SARS-CoV-2 replication.

The community, especially housewives, should have the ability to identify the presence of formalin and borax in food in order to protect family members from the exposure of those chemicals. Housewives in Pamijen Sub-District do not have knowledge and skills to identify formalin and borax content in food yet. Through this community service program, housewives in Pamijen Sub-District are expected to be able to test formalin and borax content in food independently. Guava has some potential antioxidant compounds that are varied in characteristics and solubilitie... more Guava has some potential antioxidant compounds that are varied in characteristics and solubilities. In this research, the study of solvent (methanol, ethyl acetate, and hexane) effects on extraction process of antioxidant compounds in guava fruit were conducted. The extraction method used was sonicator for 1 hour. Determination of antioxidant activity of guava fruit was carried out using DPPH assay. The result showed that extraction yields on different solvents were varied. Methanol extract has the highest extraction yield while the smallest yield was hexane. However, in DPPH assay, the highest antioxidant activity was showed in ethyl acetate extract. The solvent polarity in extraction process was very influential on antioxidant activity.

According to the Regulation of Health Minister of the Republic of Indonesia (Permenkes) Number 492/Menkes/Per/IV/2010, heavy metal is one of the parameters of drinking water quality which has adverse impacts on human health. In this study, Arsenic (As) and Cadmium (Cd) would be studied. Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS) Method was used to find As and Cd concentration in refill drinking water samples. The results showed that only one sample containing As from five samples was collected, but there is being safe for drinking according to Regulation of Health Minister of the Republic of Indonesia (Permenkes) Number 492/Menkes/Per/IV/2010. Meanwhile, Cd was not detected in samples. It can be concluded that refill drinking water samples that were taken from several depots in Purwokerto City are being safe for drinking.

One of fruits that has a potential antioxidant activity is guava. This research was aim to identify antioxidant activity of guava fruit. Potential antioxidant compounds in guava were extracted using sonicator, as a green extraction technique. DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) was used to determine antioxidant activity. Vitamin C was used as a reference standard. The result showed that ethyl acetate extract of guava fruit has a high antioxidant activity. The presence of flavonoids, steroids, and tannins in ethyl acetate extract were predicted as a potential antioxidant compounds.

Zat aditif merupakan zat tambahan yang dimasukan ke dalam pengolahan makanan untuk tujuan tertentu. Penggunaan zat aditif secara berlebih dapat berbahaya bagi kesehatan. Makanan yang baik adalah makanan yang aman bagi kesehatan. Tujuan dilakukan kegiatan ini adalah untuk memberikan informasi dan pemahaman terhadap masyarakat terkait zat aditif makanan. Materi yang diberikan berupa pengertian, jenis, dan cara identifikasi zat aditif makanan serta bahaya yang ditimbulkan jika dikonsumsi secara berlebih. Evaluasi kegiatan ini berupa pengisian angket oleh peserta. Dari hasil tersebut, diketahui bahwa peserta sudah memahami terkait zat aditif makanan.

A... more OPTIMIZATION FOR METHOD IN DETERMINATION OF CHLOR CONCENTRATION IN PM2,5 USING EDXRF EPSILON 5. Airborne particulate matter with aerodynamics diameter less than 2.5 µm, PM2.5, is one of air pollutant parameter which have adverse impacts for human health and environment. To minimize those adverse impacts, elemental composition of PM2.5 needs to be characterized so that can be estimated their sources. One of instruments for characterize PM2.5 is Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) spectrometer. EDXRF was used for measuring the elemental composition of PM2.5 in Indonesia. This study focused in determination of chlor concentration in PM2.5 since the optimal condition of chlor quantification using EDXRF spectrometer has not been obtained yet, whereas chlor is one of key element which is needed for source identification of air pollution. Concentration of chlor were determined using calibration curve and sensitivity curve methods. Both of curves were performed using Micromatter standards. The multi-element International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reference materials were used for evaluating the accuracy and precision of the procedure. Our measurements result showed good agreement between observed value and certified value. Their accuracy and precision are more than 90%, to ensure the reliability of analytical results, the comparison with the Particles Induced Xray Emission (PIXE) results from the same samples were also carried out. The result showed that there was good correlation between EDXRF and PIXE results, this is evidenced by the value of R 2 is 0.9592. It can be concluded that calibration curve and sensitivity curve can be used to quantify of chlor in PM2.5 accurately.
