Several environmental and economic considerations underscore the potential value of insect-based foods, and emerging science suggests that diets incorporating such foods might also convey some genuine health benefits. However, if expanded markets for insect-based foods in cultures naïve to entomophagy are to be pursued, it will be important to develop multifaceted and coordinated strategies to ) delineate authentic health benefits, ) explore means of optimizing insect husbandry and food processing, ) examine cultural barriers to acceptance, ) formulate workable approaches to marketing, and ) address relevant food regulations. Informal settlement in Mashhad city is highlighted because of its wide spreading and severity. This study aimed to determine the causes of urban poverty in informal settlement regions. The data were collected from household level questionnaire in 2016 and the Logistic Regression Model was performed to identify the determinants of urban poverty. The data were obtained from 220 households who settled in Shahid Ghorbani quarter using the questionnaire through the Systematic Random technique. Nearly 87% of households of the studied area were below absolute poverty line and 20% of them were below extreme poverty line. This study investigates the quality and quantity of school foodstuff available to the students. T... more This study investigates the quality and quantity of school foodstuff available to the students. The survey was conducted utilizing questionnaire for collecting data. The samples were 490 students at the last grade of daily elementary school, junior high school, and high school in cities of Bojnord, Esfarayen and Shirvan selected randomly. The findings indicate that about half of the students (54%) purchase foodstuff once a day; and around 20% never buy from the buffet. The majority of the people buying foodstuffs from the buffet (56.8%) have an average rate of purchasing. The number of students who buy rarely and limited stuff from the buffet (31.5%) was three times more than those who purchase frequently and various stuff (11.7%).In regard with the food being purchased; most of the students (75.3%) prefer cakes.
