Pain is a major symptom in neuropathy which appears in more than 30% of diabetic patients. The whole body vibration therapy is one of the non-pharmacological methods in pain control in environmental neuropathy. The present study has been conducted with the aim to investigate the effects of lower limb vibration therapy on controlling the pain of diabetic neuropathy. Methods: The present study is a pre/post interventional research which has been conducted on 36 patients suffering from diabetic neuropathy. The subjects have been introduced into the study with simple sampling. At the beginning of the study, demographic traits and pain severity have been measured and registered by the researcher. Vibration therapy has been done on neuropathic limbs for two weeks. This task has been performed two times a day, each lasting for 10 minutes. Ultimately; after a two-week intervention, the patients' pain severity has been measured again by visual scale. The mean and standard deviation of the participants' age was 52.38±11.61 years. The majority of the participants were female (26 subjects; 72%). The mean and standard deviation of the patients' pain before the vibration therapy was 5.21±1.37 and after three periods of vibration therapy was reduced to 4.30±1.41. In other words, pain severity has been reduced after vibration therapy which had a meaningful difference (p=0.001) using paired T-test. Conclusion: Lower limb vibration therapy can reduce the diabetic neuropathic pain, thus can be utilized as a method of diabetic pain relief.

Methods: Following a randomized, single-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, the current study was conducted on 80 cases with T2DM who were randomly assigned into two groups of treatment (CHCs; n = 40) and control (placebo; n = 40). Both groups received the intervention (500 mg capsules) twice a day for three months, without changes in the previous dose of oral anti-hyperglycemic drugs. The GI and LP levels were measured before the intervention and three months later to investigate the potential efficacy of the interventions. Results: For those in the intervention group, the mean GI [i.e., fasting blood sugar, two hours postprandial (2hpp), and HbA1c] was significantly different after 3 months (P < 0.05). The GI- and LP-related outcomes (TG...

This study was conducted to determine the effect of Licorice on depressive symptoms in nurses, regarding the importance of the role of nurses in the health care system. Methods: This study is a triple blind placebo controlled clinical trial, in that initially, 72 eligible persons working in internal & surgical wards of teaching hospitals of Arak, were selected using convenience sampling. After obtaining written consent from them, they were put randomly in one of the intervention and control groups. Subjects of the intervention group received 380mg D-reglis tablets and subjects in the control group received placebo which looks like D-reglis (3 tablets for 4 weeks). After intervention, subjects again completed the Beck Depression Inventory and data were analyzed using paired t-test, independent T-test and Chi-square tests. Results: The mean depression score of nurses in the experimental group before taking the drug was 19.22±7.686 that changed to 13.10±7.757after the intervention. Also the mean of this index in the control group was 20.5±7.507 before the intervention and 19.72±7.456after the intervention. There was significant difference between the mean of depression in the intervention group before and after the intervention (p=.001). In the control group, there was not any significant difference (p=.079). Furthermore, there was a significant difference between the mean score of depression in intervention and control groups after the intervention (p=.001). Conclusion: According to the results, it seems that this drug can be used to reduce the depressive symptoms.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of relaxation techniques on self-efficacy of patients suffering from cancer. Materials and methods: This study was a clinical trial in which 80 patients suffering from cancer were randomly assigned to two groups of experimental and control. Data collection instruments consisted of demographic information and Strategies Used by People to Promote Health questionnaires. In the experimental group, the patients performed relaxation techniques once a day for 30 minutes over two months. In the control group, the patients received the routine care. Results: A statistically significant difference was observed between the mean self-efficacy indices in the experimental group (p=0.001). There was no significant difference in the control group (p=0.3). Conclusion: Muscle relaxation can enhance self-efficacy of cancer patients. Therefore, it can be used as an alternative method for patients who are willing to use this technique.
