The review is primarily focused on distributed feedback as it applies to hydrophone technology. Limitations and advantages of DFB-FL hydrophones over piezoelectric hydrophones have also been discussed. The paper also incorporates various measures taken for sensitivity enhancements such as compliant coating, pressure compensation, multiplexing and use of fiber bragg gratings within the fiber laser.

Some of the key developments like the use of the coating material, the laser required and the length of the fiber etc are discussed because all of these factors as a whole effect the sensitivity of the FBG present in the receiving end of setup. Development of DFB-FL in step by step mode is also discussed in the present paper.

Human beings consume radon as a main radioactive source by inhaling it from surroundings, which is naturally, occurs in atmosphere. Several observations show that radon and its progeny causes lung cancer. Track detectors were used for determining gas concentration levels of radon and its progeny in the dwellings of various parts of India. In the present review article the relation among building materials, insulation systems, and indoor radon pollution has been studied.

The radioactive elements convert to stable elements by emitting some radiations. The tracks on the CR-39 by the cosmic rays with the help of different etching methods have been studied. The physical and chemical characteristics of CR-39 by using different experimental methods have been taken into consideration. Electrochemical etching and Chemical etching are done for the enlargement of latent tracks occurred on the etch pits by the nuclear reactions. Seve...
