At that time, the lesion extended from the temporal to the occipital region, with a notably abundant and cerebroid appearance. The consistency was firm but not hard and relatively mobile, and it displaced the ear on that side. The surrounding area was covered with normal scalp and hair, resulting in a serious aesthetic impact . Radiography and tomography studies showed no evidence of bone or intracranial lesions. We consulted with the Dermatology Department, and considered the clinical diagnosis to be cerebriform nevus of the scalp.

Two production areas were selected, a traditional growing area with high DMV inoculum, and a non-traditional area, where. DMV inoculum is at very low levels or not present. 'Ike objectives of this study were (a) to determine the rate and effect of DMV reinfection, (b) to study the viability of multiplying the 'clean' plants in isolated non-traditional areas and (c) to evaluate the use of in vitro plants by farmers. It was found that virus reinfection occurred early in the crop cycle in the traditional production area, but yield of the second generation remained high. For the two trials in traditional areas, yield was more than seven times the national average. In non-traditional areas, reinfection was not detected and yield was high after two generations. Finally, farmers were able to handle in vitro plants efficiently, and obtain a yield twice the national average. These studies indicate that it is possible to multiply DMV-free cocoyam plants in non-traditional areas to produce high-yielding planting material for farmers' use in DMV-infected areas. 0 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.

The cultures were then transferred to light on a medium without hormones. This led to the formation of morphogenic callus, in which somatic embryos, as well as shoot primordia, and finally complete plantlets were formed. These plantlets continued to grow on transfer to the greenhouse.

By taking the visionary steps of consulting the public about the role of the security sector and placing human security and development at the center of its national security framework, South Africa went beyond mere reform to transform the security sector. These steps helped repair the security sector's legitimacy and credibility with the country's people.

Effect of shoot orientation, defoliation and chemical treatments to modify their dormancy. The phisiology of peach meristems under tropical or- chard conditions was studied. Aqueous sprays of thiourea (20/0), dinitro ortho- cresol (D.N.G.C. 0.20/0), mineral oil (40/0), potassium nitrate (20/0), gibberellic acid (0.020/0) and their mixtures were used to break down bud dormancy. Befo- re spraying, the degree of orientation, with respect to the horizontal line, of ran- domized shoots on each tree, was determinated. Every shoot was measured to stablish three sections, according to the relative position of the buds on the shoot: distal, media! and proximal. Bud sprouting showed that the time of the year, the orientation of the shoot and the position and type of bud, to influence the degree of rest in such a way that when the vegetative bud rest increases, flower buds start to show a diminishing degree of...

Therefore, we objectively assessed and compared trunk postures adopted at work by construction and PCU workers. Methods: An inclinometer device (G-Link Data Loggers; Microstrain, Inc; Williston, VT, USA) mounted on the worker's back collected information on trunk flexion during an 8-12 hour single-day work shift from a convenience sample of PCU workers (n=48; from two acute care hospitals in 2011) and of construction workers (currently n=11; goal n= 60 by March 2013 from 5 commercial sites). Trunk flexion was categorized into 4 groups: (1) -1020, (3) >2045, and (4) >45. We calculated the time (duration) in each category and the frequency of bending per hour within categories. Results: PCU workers had trunk flexion while at wor...
