The synchronized Current signals at both the bus of the transmission line are used for obtaining approximate coefficients using wavelet transform. The proposed algorithm is used K-means clustering to detect and classify the faults. Fault location is estimated using linear regression method. The approximate wavelet coefficients of the both the buses are added to get resultant approximate coefficients. K-means clustering is applied on these resultant approximate coefficients to computes two centroid in a half cycle. The centroid difference (C.D) is computed, and the basis of the centroid difference the fault is detected and classified. Various case studies such as vary fault location, fault incidence angle and fault impedance to verify the robustness of the algorithm.

The proposed algorithm presents the fault indexes based on voltage signal which is used for investigations of faults. The voltage signal is processed using DWT at a sampling frequency (SF) of 3.907 kHz for obtaining W-index using detailed coefficient at first decomposition level. This voltage signal is also processed using HT at a SF of 3.907 kHz for obtaining proposed H-index from absolute magnitude of Hilbert transform output. Proposed fault index is obtained by multiplying the W-index and H-index. A threshold value of proposed voltage based fault index (FI) is selected to discriminate faulty phase from healthy one. Investigated faults in the presence of solar energy include line to ground (LG), double line (LL), double line with ground (LLG) and three phase with ground (LLLG).

Voltage signals recorded on the point of common coupling (PCC) of hybrid grid test system is decomposed with the help of DWT and a proposed DWT-index is extracted. Similarly, same voltage signal is decomposed and a proposed S-index is extracted. A proposed disturbance index (DI) is calculated element by element multiplication of DWT-index and S-index. Relative values of this index indicate the level of disturbances in the test network. Classification of disturbances due to the operational events and faulty events is performed using the decision tree based on rules. It is anticipated that the proposed hybrid power grid will be effective to achieve the objective of retiring the thermal power plants in India by 2029-30 as decided by the Central electricity authority (CEA) of the India and proposed algorithm will effectively recognize the various disturbances in the utility grid. Proposed study is carried out using MATLAB software.

This paper proposes an Ant lion optimization approach to optimize the dual-input power system stabilizer (PSS2B) parameters to enhance the transfer capability of the 400 kV line in the North-West region of the Ethiopian electric network by the damping of low-frequency oscillation. Double-input Power system stabilizers (PSSs) are currently used in power systems to damp out low-frequency oscillations. The gained minimum damping ratio and eigenvalue results of the proposed Ant lion algorithm (ALO) approach are compared with the existing conventional system to get better efficiency at various loading conditions. Additionally, the proposed Ant lion optimization approach requires minimal time to estimate the key parameters of the power oscillation damper (POD). Consequently, the average time taken to optimally size the parameters of the PSS controller was 14.6 s, which is pretty small and indicates real-time implem...

AIMS Electronics and Electrical Engineering
This manuscript has introduced an algorithm based on current signals and frequency rate change (R... more This manuscript has introduced an algorithm based on current signals and frequency rate change (ROCOF) to identify islanding events. Current is analyzed by the use of Stockwell transform (ST) at 3.84 kHz sampling frequency (SF) and a median of absolute values of every column of output matrix (CSIRI) is computed. Rate of change of CSIRI (ROCOCSIRI) is computed. Proposed current based islanding recognition index (IRIC) is computed by multiplying ROCOF with CSIRI & ROCOCSIRI and a weight factor (WC). Threshold values THI1 & THI2 are selected 100 and 3000 for IRIC for identifying the Islanding condition. These are also effective to differentiate islanding conditions from non-islanding events which include both the faulty and operational events. Magnitude of IRIC is greater than 3000 for the faulty events and lower than 100 for operational events. For islanding events magnitude of IRIC falls in between the 100 and 3000. Algorithm is effective to identify and classify the events in three ...

CEA has decided that the optimal generation capacity mix in the Indian grid may be by the year 2029-30 according the load demand of 19th Electric Power Survey (EPS). This could be achieved by combining the wind and solar power plants through a common direct current (DC) bus so that power may be stored easily in the battery energy storage devices during peak renewable energy (RE) generation and supplied to the load centres when RE power is not available. Hence, research work carried out in this paper is focussed to design a hybrid power system for integration of the wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants to the utility grid through a common DC bus. Effectiveness of the hybrid power system is established by evaluating performance in terms various parameters.

Current signals associated with all the three-phases are decomposed using the discrete ortonormal Stockwell transform (DOST) and absolute magnitude of output of DOST are evaluated and designated as DOS-index. Current signals of all the three phases are also decomposed with the aid of Fast Fourier transform (FFT) and absolute magnitudes of the output are evaluated and designated as FFT-index. Further, the current are also decomposed with the aid of Hilbert transform (HT) and evaluated using the absolute magnitudes of output which is assumed as H-index. Element by element multiplication of the DOS-index, FFT-index and H-index are evaluated to calculate the proposed current based Fault index (FI). Threshold magnitude of 10000 is finalized for proposed current based fault index. By comparing values of FI with threshold, the different natures of faults are detected. Classification of the faults is achieved with the help of decision rules using the peak values of the FI. It is established that current based fault indexes will be the key factors for detection of various types of faults on transmission line. It will also be established that proposed current based algorithms will be fast compared to the algorithms such as Wavelet transform, HT, Stcokwell transform and fast Fourier transform used individually.

For this purpose, we use VGG16, ResNetV2, InceptionResNetV2, DenseNet121, and MobileNetV2 CNN models pre-trained on ImageNet dataset to extract features from X-ray images of COVID and Non-COVID patients. Simulations study performed by us reveal that these pre-trained models have a different level of ability to transfer image representation. We find that in the approaches that we have proposed, if we use either ResNetV2 or DenseNet121 to extract features, then the performance of these approaches to detect COVID-19 is better. One of the important findings of our study is that the use of principal component analysis for feature selection improves efficiency. The approach using the fusion of features outperforms all the other approaches, and with...
