The study followed two main goals: first, providing Mazandarani and Farsi teachers with pedagogical implications in teaching English as a foreign language (EFL); and second, taking a step toward preventing the Mazandarani (Mazani) language from gradual extinction. By comparing the word order, verbs, and tenses of the three aforementioned languages, it was concluded that in some cases Mazandarani, and in other cases Farsi, is more similar to English. With respect to word order, Mazandarani and Farsi are SOV but English is SVO. Regarding verbs and tenses, contrary to English, Mazandarani and Farsi are inflected. This inflection plays an important role in forming different tenses in the conjugation process.

We selected short story as an example of literature to be included in our course syllabus. After that, some eclectic short stories from "Chicken Soup for the Soul" were selected. 14 students were randomly selected and assigned to two classes as control group and experimental groups. Finally, by comparing the mean and median of their final scores, we found that the experimental group outperformed the control group both in the final exam and also during the term considering classroom discussions.

To do so, two BA English classes from the faculty of letters and humanities of Shahid Beheshti University were selected as the participants of the study. They were given the Farsi version of Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal and Academic IELTS reading test and the obtained data were analyzed through Pearson-Product moment Correlation Coefficient and doing a statistical regression analysis. The results revealed that there was a positive and moderately high correlation between the two variables of the present study and that the students' scores on the critical thinking test could predict their success or failure in the IELTS academic reading section. The findings of this study have some implications for educational policy makers, syllabus designers and EFL teachers to help them improve their academic, political and social lives.

To this end, thirty six male learners were divided into one intentional group and one incidental group. In order to determine the effect of intentional vs. incidental practicing on young EFL Persian speakers, the intentional group was informed about the final exam in advance. However, the incidental group did not receive any information about the final exam in advance and had no idea about it. The vocabulary items were constantly practiced with the two groups through an amusing game. The posttest results revealed that the incidental group outperformed the intentional group in the comprehension task.
