A large corpus of literature exists about moringa and its medicinal values. Various medicinal and health properties of moringa make it a part of various phytomedicinal preparation. It is used as a part of routine diet and has anti-fibrotic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-hyperglycaemic and anti-tumour properties. It is also used in production of seed oil, fodder and medicine. It is highly useful as a nutritional supplement, in the management of various diseases and in the management of public health problems. Moringa oleifera Lam is an important part of South Indian diet. Its antibacterial properties were found to be effective against E. coli, Salmonella typhi and Shigella dysenteriae. Hence, it may be used as a low-cost material for water purifications in poor communities. This plant has significance in dental health due to its antimicrobial effect on bacteria present in dental plaque like ...

These devices have expanded the armamentarium of the surgeon and the worldwide market is expanding rapidly. Despite the popularity of these implants, reports of complications continue to appear in the literature. The purpose of this review is to compare the polymers and to discuss properties of the polymers used as implant materials.

Among the very many diagnostic and treatment options in the management of TN only very few have proven their efficacy to modern evidence-based medicine standards. For thorough and accurate management, a stepwise diagnostic and treatment approach is recommended. Surgical management should be recommended if sufficient and compliant medical therapy failed. The aim of this review article is to discuss the etiopathogenesis, diagnostic criteria, and treatment strategies for trigeminal neuralgia.

A Novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in Wuhan city of China capable of causing life threatening respiratory illness declared as a pandemic by WHO and has become a global fear among the community and healthcare professionals in 2020.All recent articles were given the priority, though the information on primary prevention focusing on delivering primary health care is in scarcity. An honest attempt to write a narrative review is made. The lack of prevention campaigns led to the increase in the dearth rate worldwide as the healthcare facility or tertiary care was incapable to handle such pandemic as great infrastructure is required. India is nonetheless different from other countries affected by COVID-19, as it is a developing nation and contributing just 5.3% of GDP to the health sector. Therefore, by strengthening robust primary health care delivery system in India can combat this pandemic.

A severe acute respiratory condition syndrome SARS-COV-2 affected more than 200 countries. The quick advancing of the pandemic has gripped the entire community making it as Public Health Emergency. Dentists, including Orthodontist are at a very high risk of acquiring and transmission of infection. The transmission mainly occurs through respiratory tract, aerosol and droplets. Clinical symptoms mainly vary from mild, moderate and severe type of sickness. So, the objective of this review is to give an expansive overview of the clinical implications of orthodontic patients during COVID-19 pandemic and to increase awareness about the strategies for infection control and prevention. Methods: A comprehensive literature from orthodontic relevant sources and information was searched with the help of Pubmed, Medline, Google scholar, Scopus, World Health Organization and various National O...

It has been identified as an endemic disease among which Uttar Pradesh is facing serious health problems. Aim and Objectives: This study is aimed to determine the awareness about fluorosis among the rural population examined during oral health screening camps, to assess the opinions about the appearance of dental fluorosis and to correlate the perception of dental fluorosis with the psychological health of the rural population. Materials and Methods: A questionnaire was used for the assessment of knowledge, attitude, and esthetic perception toward dental fluorosis among the rural population of Meerut. A cross-sectional study was conducted in four blocks of Meerut where 677 patients were screened positive for dental fluorosis were selected. Results: The present study revealed that 80% of the study populations were aware of the dental fluorosis and 51.2% of the study population knew about the availability of the treatment for dental fluorosis. The study participants had a negative attitude toward the dental fluorosis as 70.9% of them never consulted the dentist and 31.5% responded that they do not find their teeth to be esthetic. Conclusion: Dental fluorosis is a not only a cosmetic problem that impairs social well-being but also affects the oral health-related quality of life.

The most common oral problem in elderly is tooth loss which results due to periodontal diseases and caries. Prosthetic status is very important as it is related to dietary intake and maintaining nutritional status. Hence, to promote the oral health of the elderly, we need to know their prosthetic status and need. Aims: The aim of this study is to find the prosthetic status and need of 65–74 years old elderly residing in old age homes of Delhi, India. Settings and Design: A cross-sectional study was conducted among a total of 464 residents of 20 old age homes of Delhi, India. Material and Methods: Residents with age group of 64–75 were included in the study. The prosthetic status with treatment need was recorded using the World Health Organization Oral Health Assessment Form (1997). Statistical Analysis Used: Chi-square test and t-test were used to find significance of variables. P < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: Full removable dentures were worn by 7.30% of participants with predominance in upper arch, and one bridge was seen in 9.10% of participants with predominance in lower arch. Full removable denture was required in 25.20% of participants. Most of participants required multiunit prosthesis in both upper as well as lower arch (42.20% and 36.20%, respectively). Conclusion: The present study underlines a considerable need for dental treatment in elderly as the prosthetic status of participants was poor, and prosthetic needs were high.

Both the females came with the chief complaint of dirty teeth. On clinical examination, it was found that they had poor oral hygiene. Apart from periodontal findings, two Gold enamel tattoos were observed on their central incisors (11& 21) [Table/Fig-1&2]. Case history revealed that they had got the gold tattooing done by a tooth tattoo maker in a local fair of their nearby village. They got the enamel tattooing done when they both were teenagers. The purpose of tattooing was to beautify their teeth and they told that their mother and grandmother also had gold tattoos and the custom of getting gold tattoos on front teeth runs in their family. Visually impaired children are more prone for these injuries. Proper approach to the management requires knowledge about the extent, distribution and associated risk factors of this specific condition. So, the study was done to assess the prevalence of TDI among students of blind school in Shivamogga town, Karnataka, India. Materials and methods: A cross sectional study was conducted in a total of 80 students of 5 to 16 years age group. All students were divided into partially blind and totally blind groups based on WHO criteria for definition of blindness. Data were collected through WHO oral health survey form and clinical examination regarding gender, age, number of teeth injured, lip coverage, maxillary overjet and pattern of teeth injury. Collected data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS software. Result: The prevalence of dental trauma in the present study was37.5%. Anterior teeth only were injured in this study. Children with maxillary overjet & inadequate lip coverage had more dental injuries. Enamel fracture was the most common type of fracture recorded. None of the children had undergone any dental treatment for their injuries. Conclusion: Common occurrence of dental trauma & lack of treatment among blind school children necessitates creating awareness, health education and periodic screening for appropriate management.

Many chemicals and synthetic drugs have marked the side effects. Hence, there has been a paradigm shift from the use of modern drugs to the age-old herbs. Achyranthes aspera is one such important plant with various established pharmaceutical properties. The aim of this study was to assess the antibacterial activity of the A. aspera extract against Streptococcus mutans. Aqueous extract of A. aspera was prepared. Different concentrations of the root and stem extracts of A. aspera were transferred to the agar plates, which had been streaked with the bacterium S. mutans. The plates were incubated aerobically at 37°C for 24 h, and the zones of inhibition were measured using cup plate method. A. aspera extract showed statistically significant zones of inhibition. A. aspera showed marked antibacterial activity against S. mutans.
