Alternative restorative materials with improved properties are the need for future. Restorative dentistry must strongly promote the prevention of dental caries to reduce the need for restorative materials and emphasize the best management practices for all materials in use. Use of dental amalgam for restoration during the past 10 years or so, the awareness and recognition of the environmental implications of mercury have increased and dentistry has gained further attention as being a source of contamination of the environment. In addition, within the dental profession and the oral health research community the interest of serving patients through the use of alternative dental restoration materials has grown markedly.

We should understand that it is a strategy for converting our understanding of biological structures and functions into new synthetic pathways that imitate biological processes. In biomimetic dentistry there are 2 aspects, one the lost or missing dental tissue is rehabilitated resulting in the complete restoration of function and esthetics of tooth and the material used will regenerate, imitate or mimic the missing dental tissue. There are various materials like GIC, composite, smart dentin replacement, calcium hydroxide which are commonly used as biomimetic materials. They can be used as long-lasting aesthetic restorative materials, cements, and root repair materials, with improved biocompatibility, resilience, and safety. It is both conservative and solid, since it just replaces what is lost and replicates nature's original design 1 . The below are the two guiding principles: Teeth should be treated early and with proper techniques. The primary aim of Biomimetic in Restorative Dentistry is to restore complete function of all dental tissues by forming a tough tissue bond that allows for purposeful stresses to pass through 2 . The Bioactive materials have been developed over the past three decades from a specialized, highly biocompatibility. The key goals of bioactive material are to restore the function, appearance, and strength of the tooth. Many weakened tooth structures are removed in this process, and the unhealthy tooth structures are replaced with rigid materials. These methods and materials also reduced the longevity of restorations and deteriorated tooth systems. As a result, efforts are being made to produce materials that can rebuild dental structures and restore lost dental tissues using natural-like methods. The modulus of elasticity and structure of the respective areas (e.g., pulp, dentin, enamel, dentino-enamel junction) of a bioactive substance should be consistent with the portion of the tooth that it is replacing in many ways. Calcium hydroxide, Glass ionomer cements, Nanocomposite, Mineral Trioxide Aggregate, Biodentine, Bioaggregate, Bioactive glass, Calcium enriched microspheres are some of the components used 2 . Due to their biological and physicochemical properties, possible biocompatibility with living tissues, and ability to function synergistically with body tissues, these materials have gained expanded recognition, demonstrating their repair role in removing body defects such as hard tissue failure. The application of biomimetic technology has demonstrated promising results in the field of dentistry. These materials have gained increased acceptance due to their biological and physico-chemical properties, potential biocompatibility with the living tissues, acting synergistically with body tissues, thus depicting their repair role in eliminating body defects like bone loss. The utilization of the biomimetic concept to increase a disharmonic smile with dental defects is based in a conservative approach, which reached a satisfactory and esthetic outcome 3 . eSOURCE: An automated search of the PubMed corpus was performed, accompanied by a manual review of applicable sources.. We addressed different new biomimetic materials in this poster. A greater prognosis and success rate can be achieved by regenerating the lost tooth structure rather than replacing it during surgery. As a result, in the long term, dental medicine will require the use of biomimetic products that can successfully replace lost dentine, cementum, and even pulp tissue.

A patient with continuing pain in mandibular left first molar even after completion of root canal treatment was referred by a dentist. Following basic laws of the pulp chamber floor anatomy and under magnification, 8 canals were located with 3 in mesial root and 5 canals in distal root. At 1 month follow-up patient was asymptomatic .The story emphasizes how understanding the rules of pulp chamber anatomy and following them when looking for extra canals might help to avoid missing canals. Methods and Materials: Twenty patients were selected for this in vivo study. Each patient received at least one pair of restorations, restored with nano hybrid bulk fill resin composite (IPS Empress direct [IED]) and nano hybrid Tetric N Ceram flowable composite [TNC]. Each restorative resin system was used with its respective adhesive system according to manufacturers’ instructions. A total of 40 class I restorations were placed by one operator. Restorations were blindly evaluated by two examiners at baseline and 3, 6, and 12 months respectively using modified US Public Health Service Ryge criteria. An 18-year-old female patient reported to the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics with the chief complaint of pain in upper front tooth region. On clinical examination, there was Ellis class III fracture resulting in loss of significant tooth structure necessitating post and core treatment. Treatment was initiated with removal of carious region, canal was located, working length was established followed by chemo mechanical preparation and obturation. Post space preparation was done in the canal followed by post cementation and core build up. Keywords: Post, core, ceramic, crown lengthening.
