Originally a book of divination, the Yijing 易经 (also known as the Zhouyi 周易) is a text of multipl... more Originally a book of divination, the Yijing 易经 (also known as the Zhouyi 周易) is a text of multiple layers. It is a set of diagrams if one looks at the position and interrelation of its eight trigrams and sixty-four hexagrams. It is a moral/historical document if one focuses on its hexagram statements and line statements. It is a philosophical treatise if one reads its Ten Wings-the ten commentarial materials integrated into the textual body of the Yijing. 1
