Supervised Rafiah Nur dan Rayamangsi. Teaching vocabulary is very important to improve the students’ skill, because vocabulary is one of the language components and as a base of a language. A person cannot communicate using English with other people if they do not have vocabulary.Those become some of the considerations of the researcher to conduct this research when doing an observation at SMPN 1 Watang Pulu because students have limited vocabulary so it is difficult to communicate using English. To understand English easier, researcher use dice game as media for teaching vocabulary. Objective of the research is to find out whether or not the use of dice game can increase the vocabulary of the eight grade students os SMPN 1 Watang Pulu significantly. The researcher applied quasi-experimental method, with two group pre-test and post-test design. The population was the eight grade students of SMPN 1 Watang Pulu. The samples were drawn by using Cluster Random Samplin technique that consisted of 52 students which were class VIII.E as experimental class and class VIII.C as control class. The data were acquired by using vocabulary test. The vocabulary mastery test was applied in the pre-test and post-test. The data required from vocabulary test was analyzed by using t-test and percentage technique. The result of data analysis showed that there was an improvement of the students means score both experimental class and control class. However, the students means score both experimental class was higher than the students in control class. It was showed by the mean score of pre-test was 42.92 and post-test was 85.76. Morever, the hypothesis testing showed that the t-test (2.268) was higher than t-table (2.021). Those indicate that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. It was indicating significance differences between the vocabulary mastery of the students who were taught through dice game and vocabulary mastery of the students who were taught through box card game.
