Le cheik soufi Ibn Ata\u2019 Allah al-Iskandari (1260 ca. \u2013 1309), donna une impulsion d\ue9... more Le cheik soufi Ibn Ata\u2019 Allah al-Iskandari (1260 ca. \u2013 1309), donna une impulsion d\ue9cisive au d\ue9veloppement doctrinal et \uab organisationnel \ubb de la \u1e6dariqa Shadhiliyya, qui joua un r\uf4le majeur dans le processus d\u2019insertion du soufisme dans le cadre des sciences islamiques dans l\u2019\uc9gypte m\ue9di\ue9vale. Dans la pr\ue9sente \ue9tude, la relecture de certains passages de l\u2019autobiographie spirituelle d\u2019Ibn Ata\u2019 Allah \ue0 la lumi\ue8re d\u2019un \ue9chantillon d\u2019autres sources, servira de base \ue0 un premier effort de reconsid\ue9ration des syst\ue8mes relationnels dans lesquels s\u2019ins\ue8re sa formation intellectuelle et spirituelle, dans le contexte multi-religieux et multiculturel d\u2019Alexandrie, aux d\ue9buts de l\u2019\ue9poque mamelouke. En particulier, la prise en compte des interactions entre les personnages auxquels Ibn Ata\u2019 Allah attribue un r\uf4le significatif dans sa formation, contribue \ue0 \uab d\ue9construire \ubb les strat\ue9gies auto-hagiographiques qui pr\ue9sident \ue0 l\u2019autorepr\ue9sentation de son milieu d\u2019origine. En ayant recours, \ue0 la fois, aux m\ue9thodes \uab philologiques \ubb traditionnelles et \ue0 celles, emprunt\ue9es aux sciences sociales, de \uab l\u2019analys\ue9 de r\ue9seaux \ubb (network analysis), une telle op\ue9ration met en valeur le degr\ue9 d\u2019interp\ue9n\ue9tration entre sciences exot\ue9riques et \ue9sot\ue9riques \ue0 Alexandrie au VIIe/XIIIe si\ue8cle. Ce qui permet, tout particuli\ue8rement, de mieux appr\ue9cier le r\uf4le jou\ue9 par les ma\ueetres al-Shadhili (m. 656/1258) et al-Mursi (m. 686/1287), pr\ue9d\ue9cesseurs d\u2019Ibn Ata\u2019 Allah \ue0 la t\ueate de la Shadhiliyya, dans la consolidation des rapports entre dimensions \uab ext\ue9rieures \ubb et \uab int\ue9rieures \ubb de l\u2019islam, \ue0 l\u2019intersection de vastes r\ue9seaux de relations entre milieux juridiques, mystiques et m\ueame philosophiques

The relationship between \u201csacred (Islamic) law\u201d and \u201csecular law\u201d is a crucia... more The relationship between \u201csacred (Islamic) law\u201d and \u201csecular law\u201d is a crucial issue in modern Muslim societies. Understanding how such relationship works is an essential condition to assess the evolution of the system of rights, as well as of the very idea of citizenship, in those societies. Generally speaking, Muslim countries seem to be in search for some kind of balance between \u2018human rights\u2019 and \u2018divine law\u2019. In spite of some remarkable differences from one country to another, in fact, reference to Islamic law principles seems to be the common denominator in legal and institutional organization of all countries where Muslims are majority. Is such reference to \u2018divine legislation\u2019 really compatible with the modern concept of the rule of law? In narrating the Mamluk conquest of the Armenian stronghold of H\u1e59omkla (1292 AD), see of the... more In narrating the Mamluk conquest of the Armenian stronghold of H\u1e59omkla (1292 AD), see of the Armenian Catholicosate, the Egyptian Coptic historian al-Mufa\u1e0d\u1e0dal Ibn Ab\u12b l-Fa\u1e0d\u101\u2019il (d. after 1358) described the Catholicos as \u201cCaliph of the Armenians\u201d (khal\u12bfat al-Arman), instead of using the more common expression \u201cPatriarch of the Armenians\u201d (ba\u1e6drak al-Arman). On the one hand, the wording \u201cCaliph of the Armenians\u201d was not completely new and it had already been used by the Muslim historian Ibn al-Daw\u101d\u101r\u12b, who was al-Mufa\u1e0d\u1e0dal\u2019s direct source on this event. Il presente articolo propone uno \uabstudio di caso\ubb delle modalit\ue0 di rappresentazione deg... more Il presente articolo propone uno \uabstudio di caso\ubb delle modalit\ue0 di rappresentazione degli Armeni nelle fonti arabe di et\ue0 mamelucca: un confronto tra diverse narrazioni della conquista della fortezza armena di H\u1e59omkla/Qal\u2018at al-R\u16bm (\uabCastello dei Romani/Bizantini\ubb ma anche \uabdei cristiani\ubb tout court) nel 1292. Qal\u2bbat al-R\u16bm era molto importante sia strategicamente (per la sua posizione sull\u2019Eufrate) sia simbolicamente, in quanto sede del catholicos degli Armeni.
