Bu sayede bir peptidin ilgili fonksiyonu ne ölçüde gerçekleştirdiğinin öngörüsü yapılmaktadır. Başka bir deyişle Karabash belirli bir fonksiyona sahip ya da sahip olmayan peptidlerin tasarımına olanak verir. Karabash, kısmi bağlı ileri beslemeli yapay sinir ağı oluşturur; sinir ağının boyutu (içerdiği nöron sayısı) eğitim setindeki en uzun peptid sekansının uzunluğuna gore belirlenir. Audio-visual signal processing in a multimodal assisted living environment

In this paper, we present some novel methods and applications for audio and video signal processi... more In this paper, we present some novel methods and applications for audio and video signal processing for a multimodal environment of an assisted living smart space. This intelligent environment was developed during the 7th Summer Workshop on Multimodal Interfaces eNTERFACE. It integrates automatic systems for audio and video-based monitoring and user tracking in the smart space. In the assisted living environment, users are tracked by some omnidirectional video cameras, as well as speech and non-speech audio events are recognized by an array of microphones. The multiple objects tracking precision (MOTP) of the developed video monitoring system was 0.78 and 0.73 and the multiple objects tracking accuracy (MOTA) was 62.81% and 72.31% for single person and three people scenarios, respectively. The recognition accuracy of the proposed multilingual speech and audio events recognition system was 96.5% and 93.8% for user’s speech commands and non-speech acoustic events, correspondingly. The design of the assisted living environment, the certain test scenarios and the process of audio-visual database collection are described in the paper.

Affordable person detection in omnidirectional cameras using radial integral channel features

Their comprehensive field of view makes omnidirectional cameras appealing for security and ambient intelligence applications. Person detection is usually a core part of such applications. Conventional methods fail for omnidirectional images due to different image geometry and formation. In this study, we propose a method for person detection in omnidirectional images, which is based on the Integral Channel Features approach. Features are extracted from various channels, such as LUV and gradient magnitude, and classified using boosted decision trees. Features are pixel sums inside annular sectors (doughnut slice shapes) contained by the detection window. We also propose a novel data structure called radial integral image that allows to calculate sums inside annular sectors efficiently. We have shown with experiments that our method outperforms the previous state of the art and uses significantly less computational resources.

A rectangle blanket is a set of non-overlapping axis-aligned rectangles, used to approximately re... more A rectangle blanket is a set of non-overlapping axis-aligned rectangles, used to approximately represent the twodimensional image of a shape approximately. The use of a rectangle blanket is a widely considered strategy for speeding-up the computations in many computer vision applications. Since neither the rectangles nor the image have to be fully covered by the other, the blanket becomes more precise as the non-overlapping area of the image and the blanket decreases. In this work, we focus on the rectangle blanket problem, which involves the determination of an optimum blanket minimizing the non-overlapping area with a given image subject to an upper bound on the total number of rectangles the blanket can include. This problem has similarities with rectangle covering, rectangle partitioning and cutting / packing problems. The image replaces an irregular master object by an approximating set of smaller axis-aligned rectangles. The union of these rectangles, namely, the rectangle blanket, is neither restricted to remain entirely within the master object, nor required to cover the master object completely. We first develop a binary integer linear programming formulation of the problem. Then, we introduce four methods for its solution. The first one is a branch-and-price algorithm that computes an exact optimal solution. The second one is a new constrained simulated annealing heuristic. The last two are heuristics adopting ideas available in the literature for other computer vision related problems. Finally, we realize extensive computational tests and report results on the performances of these algorithms.

Even when it does not result in death, it permanantly damages physiology and psychology. Fall must be detected timely and effectively to enable early intervention. In this work we propose a method that detects falls using foreground segmentations obtained from multiple omnidirectional cameras in a Bayesian framework. We observed that the method not only successfully detects falls in videos containing different actions, but it is also robust to high noise and occlusions.

This paper presents two parallel formulations for the Barnes-Hut algorithm on the Cell architectu... more This paper presents two parallel formulations for the Barnes-Hut algorithm on the Cell architecture, which differ in tree distribution and construction phases of the algorithm. In the initial parallelization, the domains are dynamically partitioned and assigned to the synergistic processing elements (SPEs), and SPEs construct local trees of the sub-domains in parallel. The enhanced parallelization scheme provides better clustering of the particles by sequentially constructing the global tree of the entire work space in the power processing element (PPE) and by partitioning the tree into sub-trees that can fit in the Local Store. SPEs operate on the sub-tree data and construct local trees in parallel. Our experimental evaluation indicates that this application performs much faster on the Cell BE compared to the Intel Xeon based system. Specifically, our first and second methods on the Cell BE outperform Intel Xeon by a factor of 5.8 and 7.1 for 8192 particles, respectively.

Omnidirectional cameras have a lot of potential for surveillance and ambient intelligence applica... more Omnidirectional cameras have a lot of potential for surveillance and ambient intelligence applications, since they provide increased coverage with fewer cameras. We introduce the new BOMNI dataset, collected with two omnidirectional cameras simultaneously. The dataset contains single subject and multisubject interaction scenarios, as well as actions relevant for ambient assisted living, such as falling down. We describe evaluation protocols on this dataset, and provide benchmarking baseline results for two tracking systems based on bounding box and interest point matching after foreground-background segmentation, respectively.

Coupling Fall Detection and Tracking in Omnidirectional Cameras

Omnidirectional cameras have many advantages for action and activity detection in indoor scenario... more Omnidirectional cameras have many advantages for action and activity detection in indoor scenarios, but computer vision approaches that are developed for conventional cameras require extension and modification to work with such cameras. In this paper we use multiple omnidirectional cameras to observe the inhabitants of a room, and use Hierarchical Hidden Markov Models for detecting falls. To track the people in the room, we extend a generative approach that uses probabilistic occupancy maps to omnidirectional cameras. To speed up computation, we also propose a novel method to approximate the integral image over non-rectangular shapes. The resulting system is tested successfully on a database with severe noise and frame loss conditions.
