Ana Isabel Santos
Arquiteta. Frequenta a Licenciatura com Mestrado Integrado em Arquitetura pela Universidade de Évora. Entre 2013 e 2014 representa Portugal nos workshops internacionais ERASMUS Intensive “Paris, Fortified Places” e “Landscape and architecture. The Medina of Safi: Rehabilitation of river Oued Chebba”. Em 2015 conclui a dissertação: “Tavira, Patrimónios do Mar – da Ribeira à Casa Nobre de Quinhentos – o caso dos “telhados de tesouro”. Integra o ateliê José Adrião Arquitetos onde conclui o estágio de acesso à Ordem dos Arquitetos colaborando em diversos projetos de reabilitação de edifícios e espaços públicos. Em paralelo desenvolve investigação teórica acerca dos valores culturais e arquitetónicos das Casas Nobres do Algarve, com participação em conferências nacionais e internacionais.

ABSTRACT: The Maritime Expansion implies the advance of the defense line to the coast. The main clusters converge to riverside suburbs and to the feudal life succeeds the contact life centered in the Riverside area. Quick but sturdy construction arise answering different programmes being built with classic norms. Tavira, third coastal city in the sixteenth century, spared by the earthquake in 1755, has in its harbor activity and consequent dislocation of its court in support of the Moroccan plazas the main reason for its urban sprawl initiated in 1415. At this point is established a housing typology fulfilling the nobility designs featuring the multiple treasure roofing. Moduar constructions with parallel structures and perpendicular spaces towards the river with inclinations above 45 degrees, each compartment resolve the diminished space preceding the Islamic wall and implies to the urban front a noble coherence denouncing modern urbanistic regulations.

Os telhados de tesouro associados à arquitetura civil praticada entre os séc. XV/XVI no Algarve, registam em Tavira a maior incidência. Construtivamente assentam nas paredes-mestras de cada compartimento do edifício e diferem das tesouras tradicionais, pela posição da linha a um terço da altura do vão a cobrir. Adicionam-se-lhe qualidades que ampliam o conforto térmico no interior da habitação, com a concentração de ar quente no topo da cobertura que se traduz em espaços mais frescos, que denunciam o original aparecimento destas coberturas tão inclinadas numa região do sul do país.
