We took a global perspective on voluntary mechanisms by looking at the progress of 20 oil and gas firms from around the world toward oil spill prevention, using the companies' 2010 sustainability reports for self-reported oil spill information. The analysis includes ten oil companies from OECD countries and 10 oil companies from non-OECD. The study finds that oil spill prevention has generally improved over recent decades around the world and that government regulation played a significant role in these improvements whereas it is not clear the extent Corporate Social Responsibility played a significant part in these improvements. We suggest two generic responses for changing the behavior of companies with regard to oil spill prevention namely: mandatory government regulation or voluntary initiatives often pursued under the banner of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR); however, new hybrid forms of regulation that combine voluntary and mandatory elements are advocated.

In this study, we evaluated three main projects: the feeder road construction along the Aninri-awgu-agbani-ohaozara agricultural corridor at the cost of n1.2bln; development of the state's transport company by the introduction of 200 new buses at the cost of N700m. and the development of the live stock farming potentials of the state through the building of central hatchery and breeding technology center for fish, pgs, birds, etc at the cost of NN3bln. Of these projects, the feeder-road project showed more promise of higher revenue generation, more foreign capital attraction, more job creation, more wealth creation, quicker impact on these key indices and therefore more likely to help curb the menace of crime in the state. The project was therefore recommended for full execution.

It has evolved over the years from sundry events services such as catering, decoration, rentals, bridals, photography, etc into a One-Stop or total/holistic Events Packaging/Planning. Events vendors now have to handle events as projects from start to finish. This need came as a result of desires to reduce stress associated with events planning on the parts of the celebrants. However, such holistic events planning have attendant risks associated with them. Managing such risks demands some form of professionalism on the part of the Events Manager. This work, is therefore, to serve as a guide to Events Manager on the possible risks inherent in events management and also how to manage such risks.

In addition, to technical expertise and experience, personal contacts and group dynamics are the key to Risk identification.
