The monograph covers two kinds of environmental problems in Visegrad Group countries -those that ... more The monograph covers two kinds of environmental problems in Visegrad Group countries -those that cross national boundaries and ones that are common. The fi rst part presents general information about the historical background and selected political, economic and other aspects of the Visegrad Group countries, which is important for understanding the environmental problems of these countries, their development, current state and potential for and possible methods of their solution. On particular cases, the second part illustrates the approaches to cross-border environmental issues and to solving them applied in Visegrad Group countries. Various methodological approaches with the potential to improve decision-making processes are discussed in the third part. The last part discusses common strategies, policies, tools and instruments implemented in environmental management. A proactive approach at the level of an individual country, as well as the importance of cooperation of various actors at the local, regional and national levels for effi cient solving of national and international environmental problems are stressed throughout the monograph.
