The aim of the study was to examine the impact of atheism on the latent configuration of value or... more The aim of the study was to examine the impact of atheism on the latent configuration of value orientations, personality traits and interest in the occult. The research was carried out on a sample of full aged Bunjevci Croats in Vojvodina (Republic of Serbia) who are all of Roman Catholic Church denomination (N=489). Factor analysis was performed to extract the latent variables that had been used in the research. The variables extracted from the space of value orientations have been labeled (1) materialistic-hedonistic orientation, (2) intellectual openness, and (3) altruism. The personality variables proved to be one-dimensional constructs and have been labeled (1) depressiveness, (2) anxiety, (3) impulsive aggressiveness, and (4) asocial aggressiveness. Interest in the occult also proved to be a one-dimensional factorial construct encompassing the need to be familiar with black magic, to experience the occult and spiritist sessions, to take part in satanistic rituals, and the need for predicting the future through horoscope. The results of canonical discriminative analysis have shown that the occult syndrome among the atheists is a component of sociopathic aggressiveness whose latent structure was defined by materialistic-hedonistic orientation, impulsive aggressiveness and asocial aggressiveness in a positive direction, and by altruism in a negative direction. Only the atheists with a sociopathic personality structure express stronger predisposition for various aspects of the occult practice.

The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between interest for the occult and some val... more The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between interest for the occult and some value orientations and psychopathological personality variables that are postulated to be associated with it. The research was carried out on a sample of clinically healthy fullged population in Subotica. Factor analysis was performed to extract the latent variables that had been used in the research. The variables from the space of value orientations has been labeled materialistic-hedonistic orientation, intellectual opennes, and altruism. The personality variables has been labeled depressiveness, anxiety, impulsive aggressiveness, and anti-social aggressiveness. Interest for the occult proved to be a onedimensional factorial construct encompassing the need to be familiar with black magic, to experience the occult and spiritist seances, to take part in satanist rituals, and the need for predicting the future through horoscope. The results of regression analysis have shown that the occult syndrome is positively correlated with materialistic-hedonistic orientation, anti-social aggressiveness and depressiveness, and negatively with altruism and impulsive aggressiveness. A subtype of hostile depression underlies psychologically the interest for the occult.

The person-centered approach, his own unique approach to understanding personality and human relationships. Throughout his career he dedicated himself to humanistic psychology and is well known for his theory of personality development. He began developing his humanistic concept while working with abused children. Rogers attempted to change the world of psychotherapy when he boldly claimed that psychoanalytic, experimental, and behavioral therapists were preventing their clients from ever reaching self-realization and self-growth due to their authoritive analysis. He argued that therapists should allow patients to discover the solution for themselves. Rogers received wide acclaim for his theory and was awarded various high honors.

Cilj je ovoga rada bio utvrditi (1) nalaze li se pojedini stavovi prema vlastitoj i tu|oj naciji ... more Cilj je ovoga rada bio utvrditi (1) nalaze li se pojedini stavovi prema vlastitoj i tu|oj naciji u takvim me|usobnim relacijama da na latentnoj razini formiraju interpretabilne, relativno neovisne dimenzije etnocentrizma i (2) razlikuju li se zna~ajno me|usobno Hrvati, Ma|ari, Jugoslaveni, Srbi i ispitanici iz hrvatskoga nacionalnog korpusa koji su se nacionalno izjasnili samo kao Bunjevci s obzirom na stupanj internalizacije pojedinih dimenzija etnocentrizma. Istra`ivanje je provedeno na uzorku odrasle op}e populacije (N=396) u Subotici. Konstruirali smo skalu Etno-1 (26 ~estica) i primijenili faktorsku analizu koja je ukazala na postojanje tri latentne dimenzije etnocentrizma: nacionalnu zatvorenost, nacionalnu afektivnu vezanost i mentalitet nacionalnoga opsadnog stanja. Kanoni~kom diskriminativnom analizom utvrdili smo da se pripadnici razli~itih nacionalnih skupina me|usobno razlikuju s obzirom na stupanj internalizacije pojedinih latentnih dimenzija etnocentrizma. Based on some previous research, it was hypothesized that psychopathy and depression would be correlated and that secondary psychopathy would be the strongest predictor of depression regardless of different ethnic and sex belongings. The survey was carried out on the adult population in the region of Croatia populated by citizens of Croatian and Serbian minority ethnicity. The equalized convenience sample of 1100 participants, half of which were Croats and half of males. U ovom smo radu nastojali utvrditi nalaze li se specifični sindromi agresivnosti u psihološkoj po... more U ovom smo radu nastojali utvrditi nalaze li se specifični sindromi agresivnosti u psihološkoj pozadini određenih dimenzija političkih orijentacija i etnocentrizma i utječu li sociodemografska obilježja ispitanika u značajnoj mjeri na latentnu konfiguraciju dimenzija političkih orijentacija, etnocentrizma i agresivnosti. Na temelju biračkih popisa općine Subotice formiran je sistematski slučajni uzorak uz korak od 200 jedinica. Faktorskom analizom ekstrahirane su latentne varijable političkih orijentacija, etnocentrizma i agresivnosti koje su bile korištene u daljnjoj multivarijantnoj matematičkostatističkoj obradi podataka. Pod modelom kanoničke korelacijske analize dobivene su dvije statistički značajne kanoničke korelacije. Political-Ideological Orientations as Components of the Political Culture of the Bačka Croats – a Comparison of National Groups in Subotica

Polazeci od pretpostavke o visedimenzionalnosti ideoloskoga prostora i utjecaju kulturoloskih odr... more Polazeci od pretpostavke o visedimenzionalnosti ideoloskoga prostora i utjecaju kulturoloskih odrednica na strukturiranje politicko-ideoloskih orijentacija, u ovome smo radu nastojali utvrditi utjece li i u kojoj mjeri nacionalna pripadnost na formiranje specificnih obrazaca politicke kulture. Cilj ovoga istraživanja bio je utvrditi nacin organiziranja politicko-ideoloskih orijentacija i razlike između nacionalnih skupina Hrvata, Bunjevaca, Mađara i Srba. Pretpostavili smo da cemo na temelju postojanja razlicitih latentnih konfiguracija politicko-ideoloskih orijentacija unutar pojedinih nacionalnih subuzoraka moci identificirati specificne modele politicke kulture backih Hrvata i razlike u odnosu na druge nacionalne skupine. Uzorkom je obuhvaceno petsto ispitanika punoljetne populacije grada Subotice razlicite nacionalne pripadnosti. Istraživanje je provedeno ujesen 2010. Faktorskom analizom ekstrahirano je sedam faktora drugoga reda koji upucuju na prepoznatljive politicko-ideoloske orijentacije: moralni konzervativizam, antizapadni sindrom, kolektivisticko-militaristicki etatizam, socijalna dominacija i nejednakost, nacionalna vezanost, tržisna orijentacija te egalitarno-etatisticka orijentacija. Diskriminacijska funkcija koja razdvaja ispitanike razlicite nacionalne pripadnosti definirana je moralnim konzervativizmom u negativnom smjeru i antizapadnim sindromom u pozitivnom smjeru. Centroidi skupina pokazuju da ta orijentacija razdvaja Hrvate od svih ostalih nacionalnih skupina. Hrvati izražavaju moralni konzervativizam i prozapadno su orijentirani, dok Srbi i Bunjevci odbacuju moralnokonzervativne vrijednosti i izražavaju antizapadnu orijentaciju. Mađari su negdje između, ali bliže Srbima i Bunjevcima.

However, we assumed that certain social attitudinal constructs and psychological predisposition might underlie a belief system such as the concept of national siege mentality is. Objectives: We tried to answer whether national collective narcissism, anomie, and psychopathic syndrome we developed may prove valuable in understanding the appearance and development of national siege mentality. Aims: The aim of this research were: (1) To develop valid measure instruments that could be useful and efficient tools for assessing attitudinal and psychological tendencies in political-psychological and psychiatric research. (2) To find out the effects of national collective narcissism, anomie, and psychopathic syndrome on national siege mentality. Methods: Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were performed to explore factorial and construct validity of the scales used in this research. A questionnaire was administered to randomly selected adults (N=544). Using structural equation modeling, this study examined the effects of exogenous variables in expressing national siege mentality. Results: Structural model indicated that national collective narcissism, anomie, and psychopathic personality syndrome showed significant effects on national siege mentality (RMSEA=0.07, SRMR=0.05, CFI=0.96, NNFI=0.95). Conclusions: The scales used in research proved to be reliable and valid measures of the attitudinal and personality constructs. Given the amount of variance of national siege mentality explained by exogenous variables (46 per cent), it is reasonable to assume that collective frustrations, political mistrust, and psychopathological predisposition may be underpinning the belief system labelled national siege mentality.
