President Obama like usual used the term “Medz Yeghern” in Armenian which means the “Great Crime”. In his statement the President said “Today we solemnly reflect on the first mass atrocity of the 20th century—the Armenian Meds Yeghern—when one and a half million Armenian people were deported, massacred, and marched to their deaths in the final days of the Ottoman Empire”. President Obama once again avoided using the word Genocide. This breaks a campaign promise he made in 2008, when he said “As a president, I will recognize the Armenian Genocide”. Over 40 US states recognize the genocide, including California, whose Governor Jerry Brown declared 24 April a state-wide “Day of Remembrance of Armenian Genocide“.

Germany was the ally of the Ottoman Turkey. Its archives recently are being researched by many scholars, most from German background. Many young scholars are discovering the role of the German Reich during the Genocide and opening the door towards academic discussions and conferences. Unlike many political analysts, who may argue that the Bundestag resolution may threaten the German-Turkish relations, I believe else. The recognition is very important to push Turkey to put an end to the denial and further raise awareness about recent persecutions and genocides that are happening against certain minorities in the Middle East.

Although, local and international NGOs are doing their best to overcome on these crises but still more is needed to be done.
Syrian refugee women are sexually harassed wherever they go on a daily basis. They are harassed while going out to buy bread, walking the streets, going to school, and even while going to the bathrooms inside the camps. Some argue that overcrowding and the lack of privacy for women (don’t have access to separate toilets or showers) are another reason for sexual harassment for the Syrian women refugees.

He also addresses the power struggle between the Maronite elite and other sects, the Palestinian struggle, and the issues of Arab socialism and authoritarianism and solutions for these issues.

Unfortunately, most historians highlight the Armenian Genocide and the remaining nations’ suffering has been almost forgotten for many reasons. Today their grandchildren are demanding justice, Greeks, Assyrians, Arameans (Syriacs) together with Armenians are lobbying, protesting and cooperating with each other to raise their unheard just voice. On the other hand, while the Greek-Assyrian-Aramean Diaspora is supporting Armenians on international courts and parliaments, the Armenian state still has not recognized the Greek-Pontic and Assyrian-Aramaean Genocides.

Around 2 million (1,500,000 Armenians, 750,000 Assyrians and 500,000 Pontic Greeks) were massacred and others deported from their ancestral lands. Churches were burned, some were converted into mosques, memories were uprooted, and lands confiscated. Some Christian villages rebelled against the Ottoman Empire's advance, some succeeded and others did not, but always with arms in their hands. Today, as history repeats itself, what can the Assyrian Christians of Iraq learn from their century old history, and how can they prevent this catastrophe?

The territory ISIS controls stretches from the outskirts of Aleppo in the West, to towns in eastern Iraq. In Mosul, ISIS seized a cache of largely American supplied weaponry and equipment, andabout $425 million from the city's central bank.In an audio message released on June 11, ISIS’s official spokesperson Abu Muhammed al-Adnani urged ISIS fighters to march on Baghdad and to continue their advance to the southern cities of Karbala and Najaf which are considered two of the holiest sites for Shiite Muslims

I stood in front of the great monument dedicated to the fallen heroes of Armenia. This was where my ancestors declared their independence on the 28th of May 1918, after 6 centuries of oppression. A nation that was once occupied by both the Ottoman Empire and the Russian Empire was reclaimed and once again united. Today, Armenia’s first independence still plays a crucial role in the identity of the Armenian Diaspora, because not only did it shape modern-era Armenian nationalism, but it also led to the adoption of the principle of national self-determination.

This catastrophe paved the way towards political vacuum which was filled by radical Islamists militant organizations.

Rumi, Sufi Persian poet As uprisings broke out in the MENA region and people started demanding freedom, dignity and liberty in the streets many women were optimistic that their situation would change to better and they will obtain their basic rights. As Islamists came to power, most feminists lost hope in the new leaders, while others continued to struggle within the umbrella of these movements. Thus came the idea of "Islamic feminism", though some reject this frame but I will define this concept and explain it in order to illustrate the challenges of this movement by using some historical facts and phrases from the Holy Quran. Furthermore I will argue how they can change and bring social progress from within our societies.
