Lack of relevant scientific principles and lack of public awareness of environmental or other projects are hindrances to controlling environmental pollution. The objective of the study was to identify the importance of public awareness in environmental pollution management. Environmental education and public awareness are crucial to avoid environmental pollutions. The study aims to analyze public awareness of environmental protection. The study was conducted in Sharana, the center of Paktika province, and was attended by 71 students from the Paktika Higher Education Institute’s Education Faculty. Questionnaires and field observations have been selected as methodologies for this research. The results of the study show that 59.2 percent of survey participants consider public awareness and 35.2 percent think that enforcement of environmental laws is important. People in Paktika do ...

In 2009 Afghan cabinet approved developing New Capital to fulfill the requirement of growing population. For sustainable development, it has been planned to have a green belt and central park about 1298 hectares within the city. It is having positive impact on human health along with the economic, social and environmental benefits. Hence, for sustaining the urban parks, their proper maintenance is a foremost problem. The solid waste management is duly considered in planning stage of development, otherwise, it would encounter major challenges during operation and maintenance of Park. The projected waste generation in KNC park area is required to be assessed, therefore, surveys of Bagh-e-Babur in existing Kabul are carried out for the visitors' projection and solid waste generation. The highest visitors and waste were estimated in declining order of summer, spring, fall, and winter. Kabul New City Central Park results speculate that the total visitors' projection is going to be 6,745,313 per year generating about 337 metric tons wastes/year (0.05 kg/visitor/day). 10 Vehicles of capacity 8 m 3 are required to collect waste from central park towards the Transfer Station while 4 vehicles of 23 m 3 are required for collection of waste from TS to Landfill. Moreover, 700 containers of 240 liters are required in the park. Furthermore, different sites were indicated in map for composting area where after the development it would be considered.

Hence, the objective of the study was to identify the potential social impacts (students’ health and safety, discrimination, feedback, privacy, transparency, and end-of-life responsibility which is further planned) that affect social well-being in the organization and analyze the correlation of social impacts from the beginning until the end of the cycle in the teaching and learning process. The research was carried out with reference to “Social Organization LCA (SO-LCA), a new approach to the implementation of S-LCA,” as well as ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 guidelines. This research was conducted in a selected university in Malaysia. A survey was conducted using a questionnaire. The items in the questionnaire have been adopted based on the S-LCA UNEP guideline and adapted by SO-LCA. The items were validated by expert panels. A pilot study was conducted to a small group of sample to check the reliability of the items used in the questionnaire. The questionnaire was validated, and the pilot study was conducted to check the reliability of the instrument. The questionnaire was distributed to a sample of respondent (n = 228) using proportional stratification sampling technique. The study found that the department in the selected university positively impacted their students’ well-being. Nonetheless, marginal issues were detected, for instance, discrimination to the students, stress, including feedback systems of the local communities. The study found that suicide has a positive relationship with stress, age, gender, sexual, and disabled discrimination. The correlation coefficient between pressure and suicide was .226 (p < .01). The r-value of .226 implied a weak correlation. Meanwhile, the correlation coefficients between suicide with gender discrimination, sexual discrimination, and disability discrimination were valued at .224, .193, and .224, respectively, indicating weak correlations (p < .01). However, according to the feedback mechanism and privacy, some students complain results for courses are not confidential. However, the result shows that the students planning to pursue studies at the same university and at the department, consequently, students were satisfied with the services provided by the university. This study has shown that the department from this university positively impacted their students’ well-being. Nonetheless, there were marginal aspects like discrimination, stress among students, and feedback mechanisms that need to be reviewed and improved. The research recommends improving the feedback mechanism by providing timely feedback and designing multiple ways of anonymous feedback.

The main objectives of this study are to quantify the carbon emissions and solid-waste generation from the life cycle of pottery production in Yunnan. This study was carried out between November 2020 and May 2021. LCA was used, and 1 kg of pottery was used as the functional unit. There is a lot of literature to obtain data on the carbon emissions and solid waste generated in the process of pottery production for reference and calculation. This study forces the extraction of raw materials to the processing point, the device boundary of the pottery-production process. Carbon emissions in the pottery-production process account for about 80% of the whole pottery life cycle. Moreover, a large amount of solid waste is mainly produced as a result of the waste and production process. It is recommended that the serious pollution-causing combustion sys...

However, no definite study has determined the sustainability of an organization using the LCA approach. This review focuses on a systematic review and bibliometric analysis of the OLCSA in University. The literature was searched in the Scopus online database considering PRISMA guidelines, and VOSviewer software was used for three types of bibliometric analysis, i.e., co-authorship, co-occurrence, and co-citation were analyzed with their units of analysis. The results show that there is no specific study that has found or assessed the LCSA of an organization. However, 17 articles on O-LCA and 2 on SO-LCA were found, and there were numerous articles available about ELCC in the literature. Researchers mostly used UNEP guidelines for O-LCA, in line with ISO standards. However, they used NPV for E-LCC. Based on VOSviewer software, Matthias Finkbeiner, Forin, Martín...

There are, to begin with, a number of reasons for rejecting the fashionable view that properties are meanings (Swoyer [15]), the simplest of which is that non-synonymous terms like 'temperature' and 'mean-molecular kinetic energy' can refer to the same property. ...

He discusses Dworkin's claim that his rights thesis offers such a coherent theory, seeing it as a challenge to the pure-norm conception of a legal system insofar as it holds that right answers to unclear cases are already contained in the present law. In his rebuttal Harris uncharacteristically sides with the point of view of the "cynical practitioner". This is a useful and interesting book. It is quite dense, and some effort is needed to work through the arguments; this makes critical appraisal impossible in a short review. Though the book makes some of Kelsen's ideas clearer than others have succeeded in making them, it is not for beginners; it requires familiarity with much that has been written in legal philosophy. However, the concluding chapter, providing an overall view of law as seen from Harris's perspective, is quite helpful.

The public is getting a mixed message from ecologists, other scholars, and journalists on the top... more The public is getting a mixed message from ecologists, other scholars, and journalists on the topic of nonindigenous species. Misunderstandings and tension exist regarding the science, values, environmental ethics, and public policy relevant to invasive species, which are the subset of nonindigenous species that cause economic or environmental damage. Although there is a natural background rate at which species invasions occur, it is much lower than the current human-induced rates at which species are being moved around the globe. Contrary to some recently voiced opinions , the fact that some species invasions occur without human assistance does not confer acceptability on all species invasions. Also, despite claims to the contrary, the reductions of native biodiversity caused by nonindigenous species are large and well documented. Even if that were not true, an emphasis on species numbers alone as a metric for the impact of nonindigenous species does not adequately incorporate the high value many humans place on the uniqueness of regional biota. Because regional biota are being homogenized by species invasions, it has become an appropriate and official public policy goal in the United States to reduce the harm done by invasive species. The goal is not, however, a reduction of numbers of nonindigenous species per se, as recently claimed by some authors, but a reduction in the damage caused by invasive species, including many sorts of environmental and economic damage. A major challenge remaining for ecology, environmental ethics, and public policy is therefore the development of widely applicable risk-assessment protocols that are acceptable to diverse constituencies. Despite apparent disagreements among scholars, little real disagreement exists about the occurrence, effects, or public-policy implications of nonindigenous species.

A distinction is made between two approaches: conventional ethical discourse based on shallow ecological principles and a new ethical discourse based on deep ecology principles. Using the literature in this multi-disciplinary field of inquiry a link is made between small firms, ethics and the environment. Empirical research data based on the author’s doctoral work with firms in Leeds is discussed. The research results indicate that small firms from the study are predominantly operating a conventional ethic discourse and are framing their response to the environmental challenge using a shallow ecology ethic.
