Almost every country adheres to the notion of citizenship, which has given rise to many debates and, at the same time, established a clearly defined nation. You may get a thorough explanation of the guidelines that must be followed and the requirements for becoming an Indian citizen in this essay. In December of 2019, the Indian Parliament passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. (CAA). A new rule will make it much simpler for non-Muslim refugees leaving conflict in Bangladesh, Afghanistan or Pakistan to become citizens of India. Widespread demonstrations broke out in India shortly after the CAA was approved, leading to the government's use of force to suppress the protesters. In view of this legislation and the associated idea for a state wide National Registry of Citizens, the widespread deprivation of voting rights of Indian Muslims is of great concern. This essay summarizes the CAA and talks about how India's great stride toward religious freedom has historically influenced the country and will continue to do so in the future.

Almost half of India's population is female. A civilization or culture that does not respect and esteem women cannot be deemed civilized. New legislation and regulations in India have increased the number of opportunities for women's empowerment. Once the country won its independence, women were also granted the universal suffrage.Nevertheless, the proportion of women serving in the Lok Sabha and the Parliament is progressively growing. This has led to an increase in the participation of women in politics, and this article examines this tendency. It examines the evolution of women's political power and the history of the feminist movement. It also investigates probable factors for women's underrepresentation in politics. The essay also discusses Indian women's political advancement and future potential.

Rig Vedic Aryan women enjoyed a position of equality and were respected in family and society. The status of women deteriorated in society. Buddhism and Jainism upheld women's status to some extent, but during British rule, the condition of women in society was far from satisfactory. The Hindu women were victims of Sati, Purdah, female infanticide, child marriage, etc. This condition prevailed almost all over the country. The emergence of a renaissance in the nineteenth century opened the eye of Indian intelligentsia to the disgraceful social condition of women. Religious and social organisations like the Brahmo Samaj, The Aryan Samaj and Ram Krishan Mission were sought for the cause of women. In the twentieth century, some progress was observed in women's education which gave rise to the elevation of women's status visa -vis political affairs of the country.

Through his Human rights philosophy, Jyotiba Phule (1827-1890) pioneered societal reform in nineteenth-century India, particularly in Maharashtra. Focusing on nationalism, caste, and gender, the nineteenth century was a time of societal criticism and revolution. Reformers focused on women's issues, including female infanticide, child marriage, the restriction on women's education, Sati, widow tonsure, and the ban on widow remarriage, among others. Simultaneously, reformers focused increasingly on altering the institutions of family and marriage, with an emphasis on the rights and status of women. Jyotiba addressed the gender and caste issue. He revolted against the unfair caste system and human rights violations that had oppressed millions of people for a millennia. His rebellion against the caste system was accompanied by social and religious reforms based on equality and humanity. He emerged as the leader of the oppressed classes in Maharashtra and was acknowledged as the leader of India's oppressed classes throughout the country. He was inspired by the concepts of American philosopher Thomas Paine's Rights of Man.
