El presente artículo tiene como objetivo mostrar que ambientes laborales en términos tecnologizad... more El presente artículo tiene como objetivo mostrar que ambientes laborales en términos tecnologizados construyen nuevas adscripciones identitarias, colocándolos en debate con las tesis de la fragmentación y de la individuación de las culturas laborales. A partir de herramientas cualitativas como entrevistas semi estructuradas y observación sistemática, prestamos especial atención a dos ámbitos: el primero correspondiente a aquellas personas que juegan como trabajo, los streamers, y, por otra parte, quienes trabajan para continuar jugando. Estos procesos traspasan lo subjetivo y, a partir de la producción simbólica y las interacciones, se objetivan como actividad productiva en el capitalismo contemporáneo. A la lectura se encontrará una breve discusión teórica respecto a las tesis del fin del trabajo, la flexibilidad y oscurecimiento de relaciones laborales abonando al debate de la identidad. En este hilo se entrelazan las implicaciones de las TIC's, el internet, la cultura digital y la industria de los videojuegos. Posteriormente se presentan algunos hallazgos empíricos y el análisis obtenido que permiten elaborar algunas pistas para esta discusión.

The present article aims to show that work environments in technological terms, builds new identi... more The present article aims to show that work environments in technological terms, builds new identity ascriptions and the way this is inserted in the debate of the thesis of fragmentation and individuation of labor cultures. As using qualitative tools, such as semi-structured interviews and systematic observation, here we emphasize two areas: the first one is about those who play as work: streamers, and the second is about those who work to continue playing. These processes go beyond the subjective and the interactions to be objectified as a productive activity in contemporary capitalism. In this sense, there is a brief theoretical discussion about the theses of the “end of work”, the flexibility and darkening of labor relations and a small addition to the identity debate. At the same time, we discuss the implications of TICs, internet, digital culture and, of course, the video game industry. Prompt antimicrobial therapy and prophylaxis are recommended, where penicillin or ciprofloxacin are the available choices. However, the emergence of resistant isolates of N. meningitidis poses a challenge for antimicrobial therapy. Objectives To describe the clinical, epidemiological and biological characteristics of six penicillin- and ciprofloxacin-resistant, culture-confirmed IMD cases reported in El Salvador, Central America, between 2017 and 2019. Methods Following the detection of six patients presenting with IMD in El Salvador, clinical data were collected and epidemiological action plans conducted. Isolates were subjected to antimicrobial susceptibility testing by broth microdilution and WGS for genotyping and molecular characterization analysis, including phylogeny comparison with global sequences available from public databases. ...

OBJECTIVES To raise awareness of blood pressure, measured by number of countries involved, number... more OBJECTIVES To raise awareness of blood pressure, measured by number of countries involved, number of people screened, and number of people who have untreated or inadequately treated hypertension. METHODS An opportunistic cross-sectional survey of volunteers aged at least 18 years was carried out in May 2017. Blood pressure measurement, the definition of hypertension and statistical analysis followed the standard May measurement month protocol. Eighteen countries in Latin America and the Caribbean participated in the campaign, providing us with a wide sample for characterization. RESULTS During May measurement month 2017 in Latin America and the Caribbean, 105 246 individuals were screened. Participants who had cardiovascular disease, 2245 (2.3%) had a prior myocardial infarction, and 1711 (1.6%) a previous stroke, additionally 6760 (6.4%) individuals were diabetic, 7014 (6.7%) current smokers and 9262 (8.8%) reported alcohol intake once or more per week. Mean SBP was 122.7 mmHg and DBP was 75.6 mmHg. After imputation, 42 328 participants (40,4%) were found to be hypertensive. CONCLUSION The high numbers of participants detected with hypertension and the relatively large proportion of participants on antihypertensive treatment but with uncontrolled hypertension reinforces the importance of this annual event in our continent, to raise awareness of the prevention of cardiovascular events.

Describir el cuadro clínico epidemiológico de los primeros casos de infección por virus del zika en población adulta. Metodología. En el periodo de noviembre 2015 a febrero 2016 se eligieron dos centros hospitalarios del área de San Salvador, El Salvador con mayores informes de casos de sospecha de zika; se creó una ficha para colectar la información epidemiológica y clínica a partir de los expedientes clínicos de casos sospechosos, se tomaron muestras séricas que fueron procesadas por reacción de cadena de la polimerasa reversa en tiempo real. Resultados. Se identificaron 102 casos sospechosos de zika, de los cuales se confirmaron 35 por pruebas moleculares. El 60% fueron del sexo masculino con una edad promedio de 39.9 ± 8.6 años. El cuadro clínico en los pacientes confirmados fue caracterizado por exantema y fiebre en el 90% de los casos. Prurito y poliartralgias el 80% de los casos. With village leaders, we piloted breast and cervical cancer screening in El Rosario, Honduras. Our objectives were to improve awareness and access, mitigate barriers, connect community and Honduran providers, and link patients with abnormal findings to cancer treatment. In 2013, health professionals and staff from Norris Cotton Cancer Center at Dartmouth- Hitchcock joined Honduran clinicians and medical students from La Liga Contra el Cáncer for two days of rural cancer screening. Peer educators taught 475 participants from 31 rural communities how to conduct self-breast exams. Of these participants, 238 chose clinical breast exams; 5% were clinically abnormal and 2.9% were referred for services at La Liga with 100% compliance. 34% reported barriers to cervical cancer screening due to distance and lack of transportation. 14.5% tested positive for HPV and 8% were positive for high ris...

El proposito del presente trabajo es presentar una revision bibliografica relacionada con el empleo de los AINEs y su efectividad comprobada sobre la enfermedad periodontal. Se desarrollaran diversos aspectos dentro de los cuales se mencionaran la etiologia y patogenia de la enfermedad periodontal, caracteristicas de los AINEs, su clasificacion, farmacocinetica, farmacodinamia (haciendo enfasis en el mecanismo como antiinflamatorio), uso terapeutico, asi como diferentes estudios experimentales sobre el uso de los mismos en animales y en pacientes con enfermedad periodontal. Extracts were prepared from 13 native plants used for the treatment of protozoal infections. Acti... more Extracts were prepared from 13 native plants used for the treatment of protozoal infections. Activity against bacteria and fungi was demonstrated by dilution procedures; Trypanosoma cruzi was evaluated in vitro against epimastigote and trypomastigotes and in vivo against trypomastigotes. In active extracts, toxicity was evaluated by Artemia salina nauplii, oral acute toxicity (1-5 g/kg) and oral and intraperitoneal subacute toxicity in mice (500 mg/kg). From the plants screened, six showed activity (0 2 mg/ml) against bacteria, three against yeasts, five against Microsporum gypseum and five against T. cruzi in vitro and/or in vivo. In vitro and in vivo activity was demonstrated by Neurolaena lobata and Solanum americanum; in vitro or in vivo activity was shown by Acalypha guatemalensis, Peti6eria alliacea and Tridax procumbens. Toxicity studies showed that extracts from S. americanum are toxic to A. salina (aqueous, 160 ppm). None showed acute or oral toxicity to mice; S. americanum showed intraperitoneal subacute toxicity.
