This topic is still seen as controversial because of its specific, feministic character. The main aim of the given MA thesis is to find out, to what extent German language learners are able to apply gender-neutral German language. Moreover, it is important to examine not only the situation among language learners, but also German teachers. The aim is to examine, to what extent German teachers teach gender-neutral German in their classes and what attitude they present towards the very topic. The empirical research of the given MA thesis enables the examination of that phenomenon which then should show how is the situation in German as a foreign language classes when it comes to applying gender-neutral German.
