Focusing on trading capital is giving up a certain amount of freedom. What is external, added, an... more Focusing on trading capital is giving up a certain amount of freedom. What is external, added, and managed, engages the subject in terms of itself, and thus limits him/her. In this way, what is owned, in the process of managing it, somehow uses the one who has it. Reducing human life to manage one resource or another is a soft contemporary form of violence that is growing with the proliferation of computerization, mediatization, and medicalization. This, first of all, causes a threat to personal safety. The article presents a personalist point of view on personal safety, based on a precise analysis by Gabriel Marcel work concerning the relation of the holder to the possessed entity.

There are briefly presented two trends in security sciences developed in the last 10 years: the i... more There are briefly presented two trends in security sciences developed in the last 10 years: the issues of security culture and the issues of personal safety. Both approaches to security designate methods of threefold insight into the state of security and ways to improve it for an individual and a group. The subject of the discussion will be a comparative analysis of these two approaches to securitology. The research hypothesis is that the approach focused on personal safety emphasizes the importance of the cultural tradition of an individual or group, while the approach focused on the culture of security raises the importance of appropriate shaping of the security structure. This correspondence clearly refers to the determinants of personal safety. The discussed topic is very important for the development of theoretical securitology, especially in connection with the increasingly topical issues of the so-called multiculturalism in a globalizing world. Determinants of personal safety make it possible to study (also in an empirical way) of the individual and group feelings of security. In this way, the combination of the security culture and the presented concept of personal safety opens the way to the humanization of securitology.

Currently, such a problem is affecting scientists, as well as ordinary people who are dependent on information networks. Hence, the Author formulates three postulates that should be observed in dealing with the quality of information: P1 – identify the source of information, P2 – determine the level of credibility of the information source, P3 – recognize the purpose of information dissemination. The first two postulates are universal because they are applicable to all the users of information. The third becomes more and more important in the social and political choices of citizens. In scientific work, empirical facts are being transformed to empirical data (increasingly, to the form of big data) which are results of advanced registration and processing by means of technical and information science tools, such as: a) technical transforming the empirical signal into information; b) statistical selection of signals, and, next, statistical processing of the received data; c) assessment of results for suitability in applications. Other “epistemic” factors, however, are also involved, as: d) conceptual apparatus used for idealization (and then for interpretation), e) assessment of the results in terms of compliance with the epistemological (sometimes, also commercial or ideological) position. All these factors should be the subject of careful study of errology proposed by P. Homola.

Artykuł jest poświęcony konfrontacji dwóch sposobów spełniania się człowieka w jego doczesnej egz... more Artykuł jest poświęcony konfrontacji dwóch sposobów spełniania się człowieka w jego doczesnej egzystencji. Od połowy tysiąclecia w kulturze europejskiej są obecne dwa główne nurty: protestancki (coraz częściej poprotestancki) i katolicki. Jednym z ich wyznaczników są dwie różne zasady, których przestrzeganie ma owo spełnianie się urzeczywistniać, odpowiednio: zasada użyteczności i norma personalistyczna. Zasada użyteczności, choć ma niewątpliwie praktyczne znaczenie, nie może być podstawą kwalifikacji moralnej ludzkiego czynu. Natomiast NP, sformułowana explicite przez Karola Wojtyłę, ale zawsze obecna w kręgu chrześcijańskim, jest fundamentem etyki katolickiej, współcześnie odniesionej do antropologii personalistycznej osoby ludzkiej. Mimo że dwudziestowieczny personalizm jest filozofią człowieka, to ma uzasadnienie teologiczne, podobnie jak antropologia św. Tomasza z Akwinu. Przywołane zasady stanowią punkt wyjścia do właściwego zadania, tj. porównania kondycji osoby ludzkiej z postulatem ochrony człowieka przed zagrożeniami,

Podejmuje się analizę statusu wojny w Utopii wobec wskazania przez Morusa na pokój jako na prawo natury. Wyróżnia się dwie powiązane z sobą niekonsekwencje koncepcji Morusa i nazywa się jeniekonsekwencją pokoju i niekonsekwencją wymiany niepieniężnej. Dyskutuje się realność obu niekonsekwencji w perspektywie etyki chrześcijańskiej, etyki utylitarystycznej i praktyki polityki międzynarodowej, także współczesnej.

The contemporary ideology and the practice of transhumanism are carrying a lot of improvements of... more The contemporary ideology and the practice of transhumanism are carrying a lot of improvements of the human life with themselves, both in the individual dimension, like social. It can, however, also become a cause of objectifying, incapacitating or even annihilating individual people or entire populations. The applying of GRIN technologies are threatening of manipulation on the level of mental and physical structure of the organism. In the face of progressing technological changes the permanent philosophical discussion about norms of bioethics and social ethics is necessary. In the article an applicability of hedonistic and personalistic philosophies is being discussed. There is pointing on personalism as the appropriate basis of ethics in the era transhumanism.
