This was influenced by their religious commitment to Marapu.Through a mixed method approach, this study shows that Marapu's worldview is a major force, which shapes the culture and religious commitment of Sumbanese. The principles in the worldview of Marapu are the main protocols in understanding reality, including Christian principles. This is a challenge for the church in Sumba in fostering its members. Based on Romans 12:1-2 and Philippians 4:8-9 it will be shown that the direction of church service and the fostering of church members is the transformation of worldview. This transformation must be based on biblical principles. The impact is a biblical and moderate cultural transformation.

The biblical, anthropological, and sociological concepts of dowry are the conceptual framework for understanding and analyzing the concept of belis. Based on systematic reviews and asymmetric comparisons of the Sumbanese belis concepts and biblical concept of dowry, it is found that rejection of the practice of belis is unnecessary. Belis can be practiced by Sumbanese Christians with a critical attitude. The goal is the transformation of the belis culture. Transformation is achieved through several actions: doing belis principles that do not conflict with biblical principles; rejecting the principles that conflict with biblical principles; and avoiding the practices of belis which have been distorted by deviating motivations either from the biblical or the rights belis principles. Keywords: Belis; Dowry; Marapu; Sumba; Cultural Transformation.

Giddens' structuration theory emphasizes structure as a result as well as a medium for the regularization of social practice. It emphasizes structure in cognition but ignores the structure of society. As a result, the theory does not explain how social practices that produce virtual structures can exist and be practiced continuously in society, before virtual structures are formed in agents’ cognition? Therefore, the concept of structure needs to be complemented with the concept of worldview, which emphasizes the existence of a social structure that reveals itself through cultural components. Systematic reviews, on MacIntyre's thoughts and various thoughts related to the worldview, show that cultural components produce the regularization of social practice. The result is the formation of the worlview as the medium for social practice. It means that the world...

Economic interest, the implicit end, is the main driving force that cause the deterioration of the quality of Indonesian democracy. Various phenomena that cause the deterioration of the quality of Indonesian democracy will be understood and explained through the political strategies of Niccolo Machiavelli as a conceptual framework. Furthermore, the ideal political perspective from Bernhard Sutor which is sustained by Marx’s idea of basic and superstructure will be used to find the implicit end which moves political agents and influences existing political phenomena. This article concludes with a number of thoughts that remind and prepare Indonesian society, especially the readers, to seriously consider their political choices in April 2019, in order to improve the quality of Indonesian democracy. However, the fact is a society can also change such strong tradition. This research aims to understand the driving force that allows the influence of tradition and changes in traditions by traditional societies. Through a systematic review of relevant literature, this research complements Giddens' structuration theory with MacIntyre's thoughts about cultural components that make up the cognitive structure and shows that worldview - a virtual structure in cognition that corresponds to the structure of society - is the force that determines the influence and change of traditions. Therefore, different from studies that point to external forces such as education, globalization, and modernization as causes of changes in traditional societies, this study refers to worldview as an agent's internal capacity. The influence of tradition on agents and changes in tradition caused by various external forces is...
