Pengaruh Pemeraman dan Suhu Pada Sintesis Zeolit Y dari Lumpur

Aging time can increase the nucleation rate and reduce zeolite's induction period and crystalliza... more Aging time can increase the nucleation rate and reduce zeolite's induction period and crystallization time. Thus, curing has an important role in the synthesis process of zeolite Y. Synthesis of zeolite Y can be carried out from silica extracted from Lapindo mud. Synthesis was carried out with and without curing with various crystallization temperatures of 60, 80, and 100°C. The results showed that the synthesis of zeolite Y without curing time resulted in an amorphous phase structure with crystallization temperature not affecting the reaction product. Meanwhile, giving curing time at room temperature for 24 hours before crystallization can increase the crystallinity of zeolite Y. Crystallization temperature also affects the formation of zeolite Y, where crystallization at 100°C produces more zeolite Y products than crystallization temperatures of 80 and 60°C.

The aim of this study was to determine the toxicity levels of steroids isolated from ethyl acetate fraction of Hydrilla verticillata separated by column chromatoghraphy. The biomass of Hydrilla verticillata was dried and powdered. Hydrilla verticillata powder is then extracted by maceration methods using ethanol solvent. The crude ethanol extracts were hydrolyzed using 2 N of HCl and partitioned using ethyl acetate solvent. The steroids compounds of ethyl acetate fraction were separated by Column Chromatography. The steroid isolates from Column Chromatography were identified by FTIR and UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The toxicity level of Column Chromatography steroid isolates was determined by BSLT method. Indonesia has abundant natural resources that have potential to be explored as new renewable bioactive compounds. One of the natural resources is red algae Eucheuma cottonii. The aim of this research was isolating, identifying and determining the bioactivity (toxicity and antioxidant activity) of steroids compounds in Red Algae Eucheuma cottonii. Red Algae Eucheuma cottoni was extracted by maceration using methanol. The methanol extract was hydrolyzed with 2 N of hydrochloric acid and then partitioned with petroleum ether. Petroleum ether fractions were identified by phytochemical test and LC-MS to know the types of steroids compound contained. Then, the steroids compound was separated with Preparative Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and Column Chromatography. The toxicity level and antioxidant assay of steroids isolates were determined by BSLT and DPPH method. According to phytochemical test and LC-APCI-MS, petroleum ether fraction of Red Algae Eucheuma cottoni contained steroids compounds such as cholesterol, β-sitosterol, campesterol and stigmasterol. LC50 value of isolates of petroleum ether fraction was 26.70 ppm (A1), 16.30 ppm (A3) and 22.03 ppm (A5). EC50 value of steroid isolates of petroleum ether fraction was 13.07 ppm (A1), 3.9.1010 ppm (A4) and 50.92 ppm (A5).

The aim of this research is to know the effect of short-term bitter melon (Momordica Charantia L.... more The aim of this research is to know the effect of short-term bitter melon (Momordica Charantia L.) fruit concentrated infusions therapy on the histology of alloxan-induced rat kidney glomerulus. Renal glomerular histology was observed using Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE) test. A therapeutic dose of bitter melon fruit concentrated therapy used was 0.15 mL/200 g BW; 0.30 mL/200 g BW; 0.45 mL/200 g BW; 0.60 mL/200 g BW; 0.80 mL/200 g BW and 1 mL/200 g BW. The results showed that the bitter melon fruit concentrated infusions therapy on alloxan-induced DM rats was able to decrease the Blood Glucose Levels (BGL) of the treated rats in varying degrees. The therapy also successfully repairs the damage kidney glomerulus cells of all rats treated with an average bowman's space improvement of 110% of healthy rat's kidney glomerulus cells. It appears that the mechanism of the bitter melon active substance in reducing the BGL occurs through a different path to its mechanism in repairing damaged glomerulus cells.

Salah satu Bahan Tambahan Pangan yang perlu diperhatikan kehalalannya adalah gelatin. Gelatin yang beredar di Indonesia sebagian besar diperoleh dari impor yang kemungkinan besar berasal dari tulang atau kulit babi. Selain dari tulang babi, gelatin dapat diproduksi dari tulang hewan yang halal seperti sapi, ikan atau ayam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh lama perendaman dalam larutan asam klorida (HCl) dan variasi konsetrasi HCl terhadap produksi gelatin halal dari tulang ayam broiler. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua tahap. Tahap pertama, pembuatan gelatin dengan variasi lama perendaman 12, 24, 36 dan 48 jam dalam HCl 5 %. Mono-, di-and trihydroxy fatty acids were reacted in a free-solvent amidation reaction with dieth... more Mono-, di-and trihydroxy fatty acids were reacted in a free-solvent amidation reaction with diethanolamine to obtain the derivative of dialkanolamides.The ricinoleic acid and 9,10,12-trihydroxystearic acid were isolated and prepared from Indonesian castor oil, while 9,10-dihydroxystearic acid was synthesized from the used frying oil. Amidation reaction of methyl ricinoleate, 9,10-dihydroxystearic acid and 9,10,12-trihydroxystearic acid gave the dialkanolamide derivatives in 93.10, 49.66, and 38.78% yield, respectively. The chemical structure of the synthesized products was elucidated by FTIR and GC-MS through silylation method. The prepared compounds were evaluated for their physicochemical properties as nonionic biosurfactant such as Hydrophilic-Lyophilic Balance value, interfacial tension, critical micelle concentration, foam stability, emulsification index, and emulsion stability. It was found that more hydroxyl groups contribute to a higher Hydrophilic-Lyophilic Balance value, foam stability, emulsification index, and lower interfacial tension.

The utilization of natural zeolite, natural H-zeolite and natural Ti-H-zeolite from Malang as cat... more The utilization of natural zeolite, natural H-zeolite and natural Ti-H-zeolite from Malang as catalysts reaction of glucose isomerization were applied for determining influence of acidity and catalysts activity of natural zeolite, natural H-zeolite and natural Ti-H-zeolite Malang on isomerization reaction of glucose. Natural zeolite was activated using NH 4 NO 3 acid 2 M solution until generated H-zeolite. Ti metal has impregnationded on H-zeolite by concentration of TiO 2 0,2 M. It was applied hydrometal process method using temperature of 90 ºC for 12 hours and calcined on temperature of 500 ºC for 4 hours. Glucose isomerization was applied using the batch method with various of reaction time of 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes and analyzed using polarimeter. The catalysts characterization involved of acidity test using ammonia adsorption method and pyridine adsorption. Pyridine adsorption was analyzed using FTIR and XRD. The results showed that the acidity of ammonia adsorption on natural zeolite, H-zeolite and Ti-H-zeolite Malang respective were 0,188; 0,281 and 0,387 mmol/g, respective the acidity of pyridine adsorption showed that natural Ti-H-zeolite Malang has Brønsted acid side of 0,153 mmol/g. The XRD showed that modification process of zeolite did not change structure and Ti on the catalyst surface. The activity of Ti-H-Zeolite catalyst on glucose isomerization reaction was achieved on 120 hours with glucose conversion of 22,09 %.

Characterization includes XRD to discover crystallinity and the purity of zeolite, FTIR for the analysis of functional groups and of the surface width with the adsorption of methylene blue. XRD result shows that the formed zeolites Y is still mixed with zeolite P, the best result in synthesis with hydrothermal temperatures of 80 °C. FTIR analysis showsthat all zeolite synthesis contain a common functionO-Si-O/O-Al-O and double ring. The surface area of zeolite Y at 60, 80 and 100 °C is 22,5522; 23,0603 and22,9898m 2 /gram.

MMIP column was prepared through in situ copolymerizations with the ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate/[BMIM][BF4] as the primary pore-forming agent and cobalt(II) acetate as the metal pivot. In this work, the laboratory-made organic-polymer monolithic column is modified with trypsin and further applied as a nanobiocatalyst microreactor and a stationary phase for separating chiral compounds by liquid chromatography. The monolith was synthesized by in-situ copolymerization of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EDMA) or trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TRIM) as a crosslinking agent, with porogen of 1,4-butanediol/propanol/water (4:7:1 v/v) and AIBN as the radical polymerization initiator inside PEEK and silicosteel tubings (1.0 mm i.d Â 100 mm) at 60 C for 12 h. A total monomer ratio (%T) and crosslinking agent (%C) of 40:25 and 28:12 were applied to prepare poly-(GMA-co-EDMA) and poly-(GMA-co-TRIM), respectively. The produced monoliths were further modified by introducing trypsin (10 mg/L) through the ring-opening reaction of the epoxide group existing in the monolithic column. The trypsin-immobilized poly-(GMA-co-EDMA) monolithic column was applied as the nanobiocatalyst microreactor for online/flow-through and rapid digestion of β-casein sample into its peptide fragments. The trypsin-immobilized poly-(GMA-co-TRIM) column has potential application to be used as the HPLC stationary phase for the separation of R/S-citronellal enantiomers.

The purpose of this study was to determine and separate bioactive compounds from fraction of petroleum ether (PE) and ethyl acetate (EA) as a result of hydrolysis of H. verticillata ethanol extract. H. verticillata was extracted by maceration method using ethanol solvent, hydrolyzed with hydrochloric acid and partitioned respectively with petroleum ether and ethyl acetate. Crude ethanol extract, PE and EA fraction were identified their secondary metabolites. One of the long-known separation methods is chromatography, such as high performance liquid chrom... more One of the long-known separation methods is chromatography, such as high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). This separation essentially uses column containing particle-packed which generates high flow-resistance and low mass transfer. As matter of fact, it has an impact to high amount mobile phase usage. Meanwhile, organic polymer monolithic column has been widely used as alternative due to its high mass transfer. In addition, the resulting column has stability over wide pH range, high temperature, shrinkage and swelling of the reservoir. The aim of this research was to produce monolithic column which able to utilized for separation with low amount of mobile phase usage. Preparation of monolithic column begins with pretreatment of polyetereterketone tubing column inner wall. It conducted by activating the inner wall with H 2 SO 4 49% (v/v), followed by vinylization with glycidyl methacrylate. Furthermore, pretreated column filled by polymer mixture consisted of 30 wt% of monomers glycidyl methacrylate:trimetilolpropane trimethacrylate 4:1 (w/v), 70 wt% of pore-forming agents (1-propanol/1,4-butanediol/water 7:4:1 w/v), and azoisobutyronitrile 1 wt% of total monomers amount. The polymerization conducted at 60°C for 12 h. Produced column connected to HPLC then applied to separate toluene and amylbenzene. The result shows both compounds successfully n flow rate of acetonitrile:water (75:25) at 84 and 132 min respectively.

The good water must be fulfill some criteria, such as absence of Ca 2+ or Mg 2+ cations. The cations can be reduced by ion exchange process. This study used synthesized zeolite X from bagasse ash as cation exchange for Mg 2+. Mg ion was used as standard to determine hardness of water by EDTA titration. The analysis showed cation exchange capacity of zeolite X with molar ratio of Si/Al 1; 1,5 and 2 was 1,9. The value indicated zeolite X have high capability as cation absorbents for Mg 2+ ion.

Natural zeolite was activated by NH 4 NO 3 2 M obtained catalyst HZA. While modification using 0,24 M Sn metal impregnated on HZA obtained catalyst Sn-HZA. At this stage, hydrothermal process carried out at temperature of 90 °C for 12 hours followed by calcination at temperature of 500 °C for 4 hours. The characterization includes the XRD analysis, SEM-EDAX analysis, acidity by ammonia method, and surface area by adsorption of methylene blue method. Glucose conversion was obtained through analysis of polarimeter at hour-0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 with temperature variation of 110, 120, and 130 °C. Solution which had the highest conversion resulted by polarimeter was analyzed by HPLC. XRD analysis showed that there were no changes in the structure of zeolite after activation and modification process. SEM-EDAX analysis showed that morphology of the zeolite surface is not damaged and Sn metal was successfully impregnated 6,94 %. The activity of HZA and Sn-HZA was 1,4850 mmol/g and 2,3145 mmol/g. while the surface area of HZA and Sn-HZA was 11,4077 m 2 /g and 11,4738 m 2 /g. Using the Sn-HZA catalyst with the reaction temperature of 120 °C provides the highest conversion of glucose and fructose selectivity. It were 14,0733 % w/v and 0,646 % w/v.

Silika yang tinggi dapat digunakan sebagai komponen utama sintesis zeolit selain alumina, salah satunya adalah zeolit Y. Zeolit Y merupakan zeolit sintetik jenis faujasit yang kaya akan silika dengan rentang rasio molar SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 1,5-3 dengan bentuk struktur SBU D6R. Zeolit Y dalam skala laboratorium maupun industri banyak dimanfaatkan sebagai padatan pendukung katalis untuk reaksi hidrorengkah fraksi berat minyak bumi, bahan adsorben, maupun ion exchange (pertukaran ion). Oleh karena itu, sintesis zeolit Y perlu untuk disintesis. Tahap sintesis metode sol gel meliputi tahap pencampuran bahan sesuai rasio molar SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 2, 2,5 dan 3 dengan komposisi molar 15SiO 2 : 1,0Al 2 O 3 : 10Na 2 O : 300H 2 O, distirer selama 30 menit dan dieramkan selama 30 menit, dilanjutkan dengan hidrotermal pada suhu 100 ºC selama 24 jam dan tahap yang terakhir adalah pengeringan zeolit Y pada suhu 100 ºC selama 12 jam. Hasil sintesis dikarakterisasi menggunakan XRF, XRD, FTIR, dan uji luas permukaan dengan metode adsorpsi methylene blue. Analisis XRF menunjukkan bahwa silika abu ampas tebu sebesar 44,6 %. Analisis XRD menunjukkan hasil sintesis menghasilkan campuran zeolit Y dan P, kristalinitas zeolit Y rasio SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 3 > rasio SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 2,5 > rasio SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 2. Analisis pendukung dengan FTIR menunjukkan puncak-puncak yang muncul pada ketiga rasio zeolit Y merupakan gugus fungsi terbentuknya kerangka zeolit Y. Luas permukaan zeolit Y dengan adsorpsi methylene blue rasio SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 2, 2,5 dan 3 berturut-turut adalah sebagai berikut 15,0914 m 2 /gram, 15,0805 m 2 /gram, dan 15,1747 m 2 /gram.

Thus, curing has an important role in the synthesis process of zeolite Y. Synthesis of zeolite Y can be carried out from silica extracted from Lapindo mud. Synthesis was carried out with and without curing with various crystallization temperatures of 60, 80, and 100°C. The results showed that the synthesis of zeolite Y without curing time resulted in an amorphous phase structure with crystallization temperature not affecting the reaction product. Meanwhile, giving curing time at room temperature for 24 hours before crystallization can increase the crystallinity of zeolite Y. Crystallization temperature also affects the formation of zeolite Y, where crystallization at 100°C produces more zeolite Y products than crystallization temperatures of 80 and 60°C.

Indonesia has abundant natural resources that have potential to be explored as new renewable bioactive compounds. One of the natural resources is red algae Eucheuma cottonii. The aim of this research was isolating, identifying and determining the bioactivity (toxicity and antioxidant activity) of steroids compounds in Red Algae Eucheuma cottonii. Red Algae Eucheuma cottoni was extracted by maceration using methanol. The methanol extract was hydrolyzed with 2 N of hydrochloric acid and then partitioned with petroleum ether. Petroleum ether fractions were identified by phytochemical test and LC-MS to know the types of steroids compound contained. Then, the steroids compound was separated with Preparative Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and Column Chromatography. The toxicity level and antioxidant assay of steroids isolates were determined by BSLT and DPPH method. According to phytochemical test and LC-APCI-MS, petroleum ether fraction of Red Algae Eucheuma cottoni contained steroids compounds such as cholesterol, β-sitosterol, campesterol and stigmasterol. LC50 value of isolates of petroleum ether fraction was 26.70 ppm (A1), 16.30 ppm (A3) and 22.03 ppm (A5). EC50 value of steroid isolates of petroleum ether fraction was 13.07 ppm (A1), 3.9.1010 ppm (A4) and 50.92 ppm (A5).

The aim of this research is to know the effect of short-term bitter melon (Momordica Charantia L.... more The aim of this research is to know the effect of short-term bitter melon (Momordica Charantia L.) fruit concentrated infusions therapy on the histology of alloxan-induced rat kidney glomerulus. Renal glomerular histology was observed using Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE) test. A therapeutic dose of bitter melon fruit concentrated therapy used was 0.15 mL/200 g BW; 0.30 mL/200 g BW; 0.45 mL/200 g BW; 0.60 mL/200 g BW; 0.80 mL/200 g BW and 1 mL/200 g BW. The results showed that the bitter melon fruit concentrated infusions therapy on alloxan-induced DM rats was able to decrease the Blood Glucose Levels (BGL) of the treated rats in varying degrees. The therapy also successfully repairs the damage kidney glomerulus cells of all rats treated with an average bowman's space improvement of 110% of healthy rat's kidney glomerulus cells. It appears that the mechanism of the bitter melon active substance in reducing the BGL occurs through a different path to its mechanism in repairing damaged glomerulus cells.

Mono-, di-and trihydroxy fatty acids were reacted in a free-solvent amidation reaction with dieth... more Mono-, di-and trihydroxy fatty acids were reacted in a free-solvent amidation reaction with diethanolamine to obtain the derivative of dialkanolamides.The ricinoleic acid and 9,10,12-trihydroxystearic acid were isolated and prepared from Indonesian castor oil, while 9,10-dihydroxystearic acid was synthesized from the used frying oil. Amidation reaction of methyl ricinoleate, 9,10-dihydroxystearic acid and 9,10,12-trihydroxystearic acid gave the dialkanolamide derivatives in 93.10, 49.66, and 38.78% yield, respectively. The chemical structure of the synthesized products was elucidated by FTIR and GC-MS through silylation method. The prepared compounds were evaluated for their physicochemical properties as nonionic biosurfactant such as Hydrophilic-Lyophilic Balance value, interfacial tension, critical micelle concentration, foam stability, emulsification index, and emulsion stability. It was found that more hydroxyl groups contribute to a higher Hydrophilic-Lyophilic Balance value, foam stability, emulsification index, and lower interfacial tension.

Natural zeolite was activated using NH 4 NO 3 acid 2 M solution until generated H-zeolite. Ti metal has impregnationded on H-zeolite by concentration of TiO 2 0,2 M. It was applied hydrometal process method using temperature of 90 ºC for 12 hours and calcined on temperature of 500 ºC for 4 hours. Glucose isomerization was applied using the batch method with various of reaction time of 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes and analyzed using polarimeter. The catalysts characterization involved of acidity test using ammonia adsorption method and pyridine adsorption. Pyridine adsorption was analyzed using FTIR and XRD. The results showed that the acidity of ammonia adsorption on natural zeolite, H-zeolite and Ti-H-zeolite Malang respective were 0,188; 0,281 and 0,387 mmol/g, respective the acidity of pyridine adsorption showed that natural Ti-H-zeolite Malang has Brønsted acid side of 0,153 mmol/g. The XRD showed that modification process of zeolite did not change structure and Ti on the catalyst surface. The activity of Ti-H-Zeolite catalyst on glucose isomerization reaction was achieved on 120 hours with glucose conversion of 22,09 %.

Characterization includes XRD to discover crystallinity and the purity of zeolite, FTIR for the analysis of functional groups and of the surface width with the adsorption of methylene blue. XRD result shows that the formed zeolites Y is still mixed with zeolite P, the best result in synthesis with hydrothermal temperatures of 80 °C. FTIR analysis showsthat all zeolite synthesis contain a common functionO-Si-O/O-Al-O and double ring. The surface area of zeolite Y at 60, 80 and 100 °C is 22,5522; 23,0603 and22,9898m 2 /gram.

In this work, the laboratory-made organic-polymer monolithic column is modified with trypsin and further applied as a nanobiocatalyst microreactor and a stationary phase for separating chiral compounds by liquid chromatography. The monolith was synthesized by in-situ copolymerization of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EDMA) or trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TRIM) as a crosslinking agent, with porogen of 1,4-butanediol/propanol/water (4:7:1 v/v) and AIBN as the radical polymerization initiator inside PEEK and silicosteel tubings (1.0 mm i.d Â 100 mm) at 60 C for 12 h. A total monomer ratio (%T) and crosslinking agent (%C) of 40:25 and 28:12 were applied to prepare poly-(GMA-co-EDMA) and poly-(GMA-co-TRIM), respectively. The produced monoliths were further modified by introducing trypsin (10 mg/L) through the ring-opening reaction of the epoxide group existing in the monolithic column. The trypsin-immobilized poly-(GMA-co-EDMA) monolithic column was applied as the nanobiocatalyst microreactor for online/flow-through and rapid digestion of β-casein sample into its peptide fragments. The trypsin-immobilized poly-(GMA-co-TRIM) column has potential application to be used as the HPLC stationary phase for the separation of R/S-citronellal enantiomers.

This separation essentially uses column containing particle-packed which generates high flow-resistance and low mass transfer. As matter of fact, it has an impact to high amount mobile phase usage. Meanwhile, organic polymer monolithic column has been widely used as alternative due to its high mass transfer. In addition, the resulting column has stability over wide pH range, high temperature, shrinkage and swelling of the reservoir. The aim of this research was to produce monolithic column which able to utilized for separation with low amount of mobile phase usage. Preparation of monolithic column begins with pretreatment of polyetereterketone tubing column inner wall. It conducted by activating the inner wall with H 2 SO 4 49% (v/v), followed by vinylization with glycidyl methacrylate. Furthermore, pretreated column filled by polymer mixture consisted of 30 wt% of monomers glycidyl methacrylate:trimetilolpropane trimethacrylate 4:1 (w/v), 70 wt% of pore-forming agents (1-propanol/1,4-butanediol/water 7:4:1 w/v), and azoisobutyronitrile 1 wt% of total monomers amount. The polymerization conducted at 60°C for 12 h. Produced column connected to HPLC then applied to separate toluene and amylbenzene. The result shows both compounds successfully n flow rate of acetonitrile:water (75:25) at 84 and 132 min respectively.

The good water must be fulfill some criteria, such as absence of Ca 2+ or Mg 2+ cations. The cations can be reduced by ion exchange process. This study used synthesized zeolite X from bagasse ash as cation exchange for Mg 2+. Mg ion was used as standard to determine hardness of water by EDTA titration. The analysis showed cation exchange capacity of zeolite X with molar ratio of Si/Al 1; 1,5 and 2 was 1,9. The value indicated zeolite X have high capability as cation absorbents for Mg 2+ ion.

Natural zeolite was activated by NH 4 NO 3 2 M obtained catalyst HZA. While modification using 0,24 M Sn metal impregnated on HZA obtained catalyst Sn-HZA. At this stage, hydrothermal process carried out at temperature of 90 °C for 12 hours followed by calcination at temperature of 500 °C for 4 hours. The characterization includes the XRD analysis, SEM-EDAX analysis, acidity by ammonia method, and surface area by adsorption of methylene blue method. Glucose conversion was obtained through analysis of polarimeter at hour-0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 with temperature variation of 110, 120, and 130 °C. Solution which had the highest conversion resulted by polarimeter was analyzed by HPLC. XRD analysis showed that there were no changes in the structure of zeolite after activation and modification process. SEM-EDAX analysis showed that morphology of the zeolite surface is not damaged and Sn metal was successfully impregnated 6,94 %. The activity of HZA and Sn-HZA was 1,4850 mmol/g and 2,3145 mmol/g. while the surface area of HZA and Sn-HZA was 11,4077 m 2 /g and 11,4738 m 2 /g. Using the Sn-HZA catalyst with the reaction temperature of 120 °C provides the highest conversion of glucose and fructose selectivity. It were 14,0733 % w/v and 0,646 % w/v.

Silika yang tinggi dapat digunakan sebagai komponen utama sintesis zeolit selain alumina, salah satunya adalah zeolit Y. Zeolit Y merupakan zeolit sintetik jenis faujasit yang kaya akan silika dengan rentang rasio molar SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 1,5-3 dengan bentuk struktur SBU D6R. Zeolit Y dalam skala laboratorium maupun industri banyak dimanfaatkan sebagai padatan pendukung katalis untuk reaksi hidrorengkah fraksi berat minyak bumi, bahan adsorben, maupun ion exchange (pertukaran ion). Oleh karena itu, sintesis zeolit Y perlu untuk disintesis. Tahap sintesis metode sol gel meliputi tahap pencampuran bahan sesuai rasio molar SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 2, 2,5 dan 3 dengan komposisi molar 15SiO 2 : 1,0Al 2 O 3 : 10Na 2 O : 300H 2 O, distirer selama 30 menit dan dieramkan selama 30 menit, dilanjutkan dengan hidrotermal pada suhu 100 ºC selama 24 jam dan tahap yang terakhir adalah pengeringan zeolit Y pada suhu 100 ºC selama 12 jam. Hasil sintesis dikarakterisasi menggunakan XRF, XRD, FTIR, dan uji luas permukaan dengan metode adsorpsi methylene blue. Analisis XRF menunjukkan bahwa silika abu ampas tebu sebesar 44,6 %. Analisis XRD menunjukkan hasil sintesis menghasilkan campuran zeolit Y dan P, kristalinitas zeolit Y rasio SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 3 > rasio SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 2,5 > rasio SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 2. Analisis pendukung dengan FTIR menunjukkan puncak-puncak yang muncul pada ketiga rasio zeolit Y merupakan gugus fungsi terbentuknya kerangka zeolit Y. Luas permukaan zeolit Y dengan adsorpsi methylene blue rasio SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 2, 2,5 dan 3 berturut-turut adalah sebagai berikut 15,0914 m 2 /gram, 15,0805 m 2 /gram, dan 15,1747 m 2 /gram.
