When blood supply altered/arrested about two million brain cells die in each second, which can increase the risk of brain damage, disability and death. Present study focused on the fact that the combination of the hydro alcoholic extract of Eclipta alba and Centella asiatica can reverse MCAO induced brain stroke, protect brain form stroke and protect brain from other complication which are precipitated by brain stroke. In MCAO treated group MDA level was increased significantly and GSH was significantly decreased compare to control and SHAM group. These altered biochemical parameters were restored to normal values significantly respectively by administering hydro alcoholic extract of combination of Eclipta alba and Centella asiatica extract and melatonin. The results of present study suggest that the combination of eclipta alba and centella asiatica is more potent than in...

In this study, we evaluated potential pharmacological effects of ethanolic extracts of Z. Officinale with respect to central nervous system (CNS) activity in mice. Role of ethanolic extract of ginger on CNS activity in mice was studied using models of elevated plus maze test, barbiturate-induced sleeping time, tail suspension test, hot-plate and tail-flick test. Ginger extract was administered to mice at single doses of 50 and 200 mg/kg, perorally while diazepam (1 mg/kg), morphine (5 mg/kg) and imipramine (30 mg/kg) intraperitoneally were used as standard drugs. The results showed that the ginger extract at all dose levels significantly exhibited anxiolytic activityincreased the sleeping latency but reduced the sleeping time. Tail suspension test showed that the extract at both the doses was able to induce a significant decrease in the immobility time, similar to imipramine,...

MDS is based on pore size of sponges. The action of microsponges lasts up to 12 hours. MDS is also dependent on the physicochemical properties of the drug. These are used in bone tissue engineering, for reducing skin irritation and have a self-sterilisation property. This review provides an overview regarding the characteristics, methods of preparation, properties, evaluation, applications and limitations of MDS.

Hepatoprotective, anti-tumour and carminative. In the present study flower extract, stem extract, and whole plant extract (aqueous extract) were studied for their antiinflammatory potential for 1hr, 2hr and 4hr duration against carageenan induced rat paw edema.. It was observed that the aqueous extract of whole plant at dose level of 400 mg/kg was found to exhibit the maximum reduction of 36.36% in edema about after 4 hours, followed by aqueous extract of stem (400mg/kg) with a reduction of about 34.54 % and least reduction was observed in aqueous extract of flower of Inula cuspidata which caused 29.09% reduction in carrageenan induced edema.

The ocular films were evaluated for drug-excipient interaction, physico-chemical characteristics and in vitro release studies by RP-HPLC method. There was no interaction between drug and excipients as revealed by IR spectra of the pure drug, medicated and placebo formulations. All the formulations were subjected to evaluation of thickness, weight variation, folding endurance, drug content uniformity, in vitro release study, Surface pH, % Moisture absorption, Release Kinetics, and Ocular Irritation Studies. On the basis of in vitro drug release studies, the formulation PCP was found to be better than the other formulations and it was selected as an optimized for...

(Zingiberaceae) presents many chemical constituents of the volatile oil extracted from the rhizome. The rhizome of Alpinia galanga is used by people in many regions for relieving toothache, abdominal pain, muscular swelling and rheumatism. This study was performed to determine the antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities of a methanolic extract of Alpinia galanga. Analgesic activity was evaluated by acetic acid induced writhing responses, tail flick and hot plate methods in mice. In analgesic activity the A. galanga extract significantly reduced the writhes and increased the tail withdrawal time and paw jumping in albino mice. The anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated by carrageenan induced edema in wistar albino rats. It was found that the extract inhibits the paw edema significantly (p<0.05) at both 250 mg/kg and 500 mg/kg dose levels when compared with control. The positive control drugs for analgesic and anti-inflammatory studies were employed...

Nine batches of dispersible tablets of Diclofenac sodium was prepared by adopting superdisintegrant addition method. The superdisintegrants used in the study were crospovidone, croscarmellose sodium and sodium starch glycolate with other excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose & mannitol as diluents, sucralose as sweetening agent, clove oil as flavoring & mild local anesthetic agent and talc & magnesium stearate as glidant and lubricant respectively. Each batch consisted of varying concentrations (3%-7%) of individual superdisintegrant incorporated in the formulation process. Various pre-compression physicochemical parameters of formulation blends were analyzed and obtained results were: angle of repose (23.5-...

Before a drug reach to the phase IV clinical trial it have to pass the genotoxicity tests. The micronucleus (MN), chromosomal aberration (CA) and Ames test are three main test batteries for genotoxicity recognized by the international conference on harmonization (ICH) Guidelines. As in case of macrolides antibiotics, they are the most harmful antibiotics among the other antibiotics. Erythromycin comes under this category and a prototype and most safe among macrolide antibiotic. It uses in long-term treatment so interaction with body occurs with a long time and, may cause different toxicities to the body including genotoxicity. A less number of works has done on Erythromycin genotoxicity testing. Some of them are recognized to have the genotoxic effect and some of them yet unknown. Prevention and effective treatment of stroke is of utmost importance. Stroke involves reduce blood supply in brain to fulfill metabolic demand. Limit in number of medicines and their conventional target approach of action in treating stroke, led us to the search for novel therapeutic approaches. Higher extent of research in field of drug discovery focus on the possible ability of natural compounds extracted from medicinal plants, to prevent ischemia. Natural compounds are promising in treating stroke involving cell process like oxidative phosphorylation, membrane functioning, neurotransmitter release, and free radical generation. Herbal compounds show preventive effect in following sequence calcium antagonism, anti-excitotoxicity, anti-oxidation, antiapoptosis and anti-inflammation on experimental induced ischemic brain injury. The present work was undertaken to evaluate the ethanolic extract of Mangifera indica L. fruit on cognitive performances. The models used to study the effect on cognitive performances are step down passive avoidance task and elevated plus maze task in mice. Chronic treatment (7 days) of extract and vitamin C significantly (p < 0.05) reversed the aging and scopolamine induced memory deficits in both paradigms. Preliminary phytochemical screening revealed the presence of free sugars, saponins, tannins, and flavonoids. The results suggestthe extract contained pharmacologically active principles that are memory-enhancing in nature.

DNA methylation is also the process where the addition of a methyl group to part of the DNA molecule, which prevents certain genes from being expressed. Epigenetics also works through the histone modification, Acetylation of specific lysine residues on core histones is believed to result in uncoiling of the DNA. There are various diseases, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and mental illnesses are influenced by epigenetic mechanisms, and epigenetic therapy offers a potential way to influence them directly. When genes are silenced, their expression is reduced. Epigenetics play a major role against nephropathic and diabetic nephropathic conditions via epigenetical modifications in the specific genes.
