Contemporary education in higher education institutions has a goal to provide necessary competenc... more Contemporary education in higher education institutions has a goal to provide necessary competences determined by legislative demands, science trends and job market needs to graduated students intending to strengthen their employability. The main idea of this research is to assess the level of students’ competences for lifelong learning (LLL). Since it is a very complex task, it is characterized by a lack of information and the vagueness of the inherently subjective nature of human thinking. The uncertain values of the assessed level of students’ competences for LLL are represented by linguistic expressions which are modeled by the interval type 2 trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. Ranking of the level of students’ competences for LLL is stated as a fuzzy multi-criteria optimization task. The aggregation of students’ opinions into unique marks is given by using the proposed fuzzy Delphi technique. One of possible approaches in virtual enterprise integration is employment of web services. In this paper we will present process-oriented approach for developing an SOA for VEI. The general assumption of suggested approach is that service oriented architecture is based on business service and that business services mostly correspond to exchanged documentation in a real business system. CASE tool for web service specification is also presented.

The aim of this research is to propose a hybrid decision-making model for evaluation and selectio... more The aim of this research is to propose a hybrid decision-making model for evaluation and selection of quality methods whose application leads to improved reliability of manufacturing in the process industry. Evaluation of failures and determination of their priorities are based on failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), which is a widely used framework in practice combining with triangular intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (TIFNs). The all-existing uncertainties in the relative importance of the risk factors (RFs), their values, applicability of the quality methods, as well as implementation costs are described by pre-defined linguistic terms which are modeled by the TIFNs. The selection of quality methods is stated as the rubber knapsack problem which is decomposed into subproblems with a certain number of solution elements. Quality management system and the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 are usually reliable when defining the key performance indicators of processes, and the process approach enables monitoring of the process indicators’ effectiveness for the whole organization. Evaluation, monitoring and ranking of key performance indicators can provide quality improvement of strategy process performance in different SMEs. A model based on genetic algorithms has been developed in order to rank key performance indicators of the strategy process. This model can have a great practical use for a company’s management team in the quality assessment of strategy process performance in their company.

Corporate and organizational performance assessment is an important activity for both the manager... more Corporate and organizational performance assessment is an important activity for both the managers and other stakeholders, as it provides them with an asset to evaluate their own strengths and weaknesses in relation to the competition, as well as guidelines for selecting appropriate measures to address the existing problems. The issue of criteria selection has been overcome through the literature review and the issue of criteria weights is handled by applying group decision making procedure. The procedure itself consists of using predefined linguistic expressions that are modelled by triangular fuzzy numbers and the aggregation of decision makers' opinion based on the rules of rough sets algebra. The values of the decision matrix are determined by prognosis method and they are described by crisp values. The proposed algorithm is tested on the insurance companies that operate in the Republic of Serbia.

The level of circularity of a business organization largely depends on the development of digital technologies. In a real dynamic business environment, digital technologies can be applied to capture the full potential of circular strategies for improving resource efficiency and productivity. By applying digital technology in business organizations, it is possible to monitor the process of transition of a linear economic model to a circular economic model. Therefore, this paper aims to review developed digital tools, which can be used to monitor the circular economy at the level of a business organization, in order to improve the decision-making process in the analyzed area.

This paper presents an evaluation of the fundamental objectives of laboratories for distance education, comparing the effectiveness of a remotely controlled approach versus simulations. The results and analysis show that students prefer remotely controlled laboratories compared to simulation labs. The results show that remotely controlled laboratories better fulfill objectives important for laboratory exercises. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
