Evaluating the productivity of institutional research and developmental activities highlights the contribution of the institution and the individual scientists engaged in research. It also provides some insights into the complex dynamics of research activity and enables the science policy makers and science administrators to make available adequate facilities and direct the research activities in proper direction. A well known productivity indicator is the number of publications produced by scientists, institutions, or research groups. Over the years, Bibliometrics and Scientometrics techniques have became tools to evaluate the productivity of research institutes, individual researchers. Therefore, present chapter aims to measure productivity of scientists in Antimicrobial Agent and Chemotherapy Journal.

A citation analysis of Ph.D. theses submitted to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University Lib... more A citation analysis of Ph.D. theses submitted to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University Library was performed as a way of determining the use of information sources made by the scholars of the university. for the present study 34Ph.D.theses of Economics were chosen as a sample from the year 2000-2010,there are in all 2876 citations appended in 34 theses. The data was collected from the bibliographical entries listed at the end of the theses, which was used by the researchers for completing the theses. The citations were photocopied and the data was collected. Citation analysis have been carried out to find the types of cited document, the chronological distribution of cited documents, to find out the authorship pattern of cited document. The rank list of cited journals books, to find out the language. Wise distribution, geographical distribution of cited documents, the rank list of cited web-sources and the cited authors.

The study also identifies the central assets and the leaders in economics department as well as points out the areas in which there is lack of specialized knowledge.

Total 55 Libraries of Management institution libraries responded to the survey conducted for the study. The required primary data for the study is collected through the structured questionnaire. The study collected information on the types of functions and services being outsourced by the management institution libraries. The paper revels that majority of the Libraries prefer to do the core activities of the library in-house and few non-core activities of the Library are outsourced and it is in infancy stage.

DOAJ is an online directory that indexes and provides access to quality open access, peer-reviewed journals. The aim of the Directory is to increase the visibility and ease of use of open access scientific and scholarly journals thereby promoting their increased usage and impact. The DOAJ which lists the open access scientific and scholarly journals in various subject disciplines was selected to analyze the open access availability of the Library and Information Science discipline. In the study it is found that 89 articles are published in the area of Internet Use in Library and Information science subject on DOAJ. The study focuses on various aspect of the journal such as document types, growth of papers (year wise), authorship pattern, institutions involved, citation analysis, most prolific authors of the journal, mean page length and number of references.
