Human beings are born equal in dignity and rights. These moral claims are articulated and formula... more Human beings are born equal in dignity and rights. These moral claims are articulated and formulated in what is today known as human rights. Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings whatever our nationality, place of residence, sex, national or ethic origion, colour, religion, language or any other status. We are all equally entitled to our human rights without discrimination. The origin of human rights may be found both in Greek philosophy and the various world religions. In the Age of Enlightenment the concept of human rights emerged as an explicit category. Origin of the idea of human rights in India though the Rigveda Perod. The term Human Rights refer to those rights are considered universal to humanity, regardless of citizenship, residency status, ethnicity, gender, or other considerations. The present topic is a burning issue and has a great significance in the world especially the developing nations like India. The experience of the last five decades in the area of human rights has become a matter of deep concern. The early history of human rights movement can be traced from 13 th century. India was closely and actively participating in all these developments, Finally Government of India introduced the Human Rights Commission Bill in the Lok Sabha on 14 th May 1992.

The names referring to goa as Gomantak and Gomanchala appear in ancient religious texts like the Bhisnapava of the Mahabharat. The ancient city of Gopakpattan located in Island of Tiswadi. Gopakapattan was known by various names like Gove, Govapuri, Govapur, Gopakapattan or simply Gopaka. Kadambas of Goa to shift their capital and harbour from Chandrapur to Gopakapattan during the 11th century. Post-Mauran archaeological findings in goa show the importance given by the Buddhism. The first direct rulers of Gopakapattan were some arab merchants and fleet owners. The Konkan Mauryan ruled North-Konkan before the Western Chalukyas up rooted them. Later Kadambas of Goa rulers ruled goa under the feudatories of Chalukyas of Kalyan. During the reign of Jayakeshi 1st Gopakapattan reached its zenith of Prosperity. It may be noted that important ancient villages frequently mentioned in Kadamba and Vijayanagar records. The merchant guilds in Gopakapattan belonged mostly to the Jain Vanik Sanghas. The City must have had many markets near the port and close to the giant temple complex of Govesvara. Finally Gopakapattan was burnt by Sinda King Acchugi in 1127 A.D. The Bahamanis annexed Goa in 1351–52 and demolished port town Gopakapattan. Later portugis Captured Goa and made Capital.

Assam and West Bengal are the two leading provinces of contributing the production of tea in India. Being a labour intensive is the unique feature of the tea plantation. The labourer working in the plantation industry happens to be the backbone of tea plantation. Tea plantation of Assam marked the beginning of the extraction of natural resources by the colonial British regime. It set the new avenues of investment of capital and exploitation of resources at cost of the suffering and misery of tea plantation workers. Because of the scarcity of labour in the tea plantation of Assam and as well as reluctant of local natives to work in tea plantation therefore a good number of labourer belong to different ethnic, cultural and linguistic heritage of other provinces of India were recruited. In the present paper an attempt has been made to examine the process of recruitment of labourer in the early period of tea industry of Assam. The paper also deals with the Indenture Regime of British Tea Planters to recruit labourer in the tea industry of Assam under which the labourer were exploited relentlessly to pursuit profit.
