Custom electronics asserts a trigger in a 2 ms decision time. The decision is based on the combined information of the electromagnetic calorimeter and the drift chamber. The entire trigger system is continuously monitored, and data flowing from the trigger system have allowed both an efficient online monitoring of the detector and an online luminosity measurement. #

Detection of phi-->f0(980) photon, phi-->a0(980) photon into five photons final state with KLOE at DAFNE

The KLOE detector at DAFNE, the Frascati phi-factory, has collected about 30 pb^-1 by the end of ... more The KLOE detector at DAFNE, the Frascati phi-factory, has collected about 30 pb^-1 by the end of 2000, corresponding to about 90 millions of phi(1020) mesons produced. The five photon final state has been exploited to study the rare decays of phi into f0(980) photon and a0(980) photon, with statistical accuracy never reached before. The preliminary results for these branching ratios, from a data sample of 17 pb^-1, are the following: BR(phi-->f0(980) photon)=(23.7 +- 0.6 (stat.) times 10^-5, BR(phi--> a0(980) photon)=(5.8 +- 0.5 (stat.)) times 10^-5. The systematic error is expected to be less than 10%, a precise evaluation is going on. For the ratio of the branching ratios of phi--> f0 photon to phi--> a0 photon we find 4.1 +- 0.4 (stat.).

The decays φ→ ηπ0γ and φ→ πoπoγ have been exploited to study the scalar mesons ao (980) and fo (980). Furthermore a new determination of the η− η′ mixing angle has been obtained from the measurement of the ratio of the decay rates of/gf→ η′ γ to φ→ ηγ.

In the fixed energy environment of the e + e − collider DAΦNE, KLOE can measure the cross section... more In the fixed energy environment of the e + e − collider DAΦNE, KLOE can measure the cross section of the process e + e − → hadrons as a function of the hadronic system energy using the radiative return method. At energies below 1 GeV, e + e − → ρ → π + π − is the dominating hadronic process. We report here on the status of the analysis of the process e + e − → π + π − γ. Some preliminary results on the invariant mass spectrum of the two pion system, obtained from the analysis of ∼ 22.6 pb −1 , are presented.

The main aim of the KLOE experiment at DAFNE, the Frascati f-factory, is to study CP violation in... more The main aim of the KLOE experiment at DAFNE, the Frascati f-factory, is to study CP violation in the K 0 -% K 0 system. Requirements on shower detection are very stringent. An hermetic, lead-scintillating fiber sampling calorimeter has been chosen and built. A review of the methods used to calibrate and reconstruct energy and timing is reported in this paper. Emphasis is given to the calibration procedures developed using the 2.4 pb À1 collected in 1999. An energy resolution of 5:7%= ffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffi ffi E=GeV p is achieved together with a linearity in energy response better than 1% above 50 MeV. A time resolution of $54 ps= ffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffiffi ffi E=GeV p is also measured on samples of radiative Bhabha and F decays. #

We present a study of the reaction e + e − →π + π − γ at the φ peak with the KLOE detector at the... more We present a study of the reaction e + e − →π + π − γ at the φ peak with the KLOE detector at the φ-factory DAΦNE. This reaction allows us to obtain the cross section for e + e − →π + π − from the e + e − center-of-mass energy W = m φ = 1019 MeV down to threshold, i.e. 2m π < M ππ < m φ . This is called radiative return. The status of the analysis and preliminary results on the invariant mass spectrum of the two-pion-state are presented.

The ϕ-meson leptonic widths, Γee and Γμμ, are obtained, respectively, from the e+ e− forward–back... more The ϕ-meson leptonic widths, Γee and Γμμ, are obtained, respectively, from the e+ e− forward–backward asymmetry and the μ+ μ− cross section around the ϕ-mass energy. We find Γee= 1.32±0.05±0.03 keV and ΓeeΓμμ= 1.320±0.018±0.017 keV. These results, compatible with Γee= Γμμ, provide a precise test of lepton universality. Combining the two results gives Γℓℓ (ϕ)= 1.320±0.023 keV.

The process-independent DP parameter, seff, is obtained without reference to theoretical calculations by comparing observed DP events to events with hard scatterings at separate pp collisions.
