This article deals with some testimonies by the writer Virginia Woolf and the underlying conflict... more This article deals with some testimonies by the writer Virginia Woolf and the underlying conflict regarding her relationship with dress, mainly in Moments of Being and in her diaries. This topic is undoubtedly connected to the different aspects of the Victorian society that surrounded Woolf as she grew up: social, gender and economic issues. In a later stage, these testimonies are seen in relation with her fictional writing, taking as an emblematic example the short story: "The New Dress", from 1925. Finally, we will trace the progression of this conflictive relation we mentioned through the different stages in the life of the author.

Adrienne Rich, en uno de sus ensayos, utiliza el termino “re-vision” para denominar la apropiacio... more Adrienne Rich, en uno de sus ensayos, utiliza el termino “re-vision” para denominar la apropiacion que algunas artistas contemporaneas hacen de textos canonicos, con un abordaje que, desde una mirada esencialmente feminista, intenta romper con el dominio de la tradicion. En uno de sus poemas, que lleva el mismo titulo que el famoso poema de John Donne, “A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning”, Rich desafia la concepcion idealista del amor heterosexual y le dice adios a su vida pasada, no solo en cuanto a su preferencia sexual sino tambien textual. Por su parte, June Jordan, que en su poesia hace uso de la palabra para resistir los abusos de poder y las violaciones a la dignidad que oprimen a las mujeres, sobre todo a las mujeres negras, re-escribe en su poema “The Female and the Silence of a Man” el poema de William B.
