It is very fundamental of the Buddhist ethics not to do any evil, to cultivate all virtuous actions and to purify one's mind. In this article, it is implied from the aspect of "lokavajja" and "paññattivajja" in Vinaya. "Lokavajja" encompasses universally valid moral behavior, while "paññattivajja" involves ethical principles derived from conventions and social norms. In this regards, the problem is that the social-ethical norm is crucial to justify in contemporary society. Accordingly, this article investigates the essential tenets of Buddhist ethics, focusing on the concepts of "lokavajja" and "paññattivajja" within the framework of Vinaya. Moreover, the article explores the critical role of "viññūpurisa" in the justification and assessment of right and wrong conducts by analysing it in Dhamma-Vinaya aspects. Finally, the article suggests that the immoral conducts what the "viññūpurisa" would be blame should be abstained and all skillful conducts praised by them is to be adhered in order to enhance spiritual development and gain the ultimate goal of liberation.
