The use of vegetable oils in CI engine results in low CO and HC emissions compared to conventional diesel fuel. The present study covers the preparation of biodiesel from honne oil by converting to honne oil methyl esters (HOME) by transesterification process. The properties of biodiesel is compared with diesel. From the comparison of properties, it is inferred that the biodiesel prepared can be used as alternative fuel for CI engine without any engine modification. The findings of the present research work infer that the biodiesel obtained from honne oil is a promising alternative fuel for direct-injection four-stroke CI engine.

The natural resources of fossil fuel are dwindling day by day. Biodiesel that may called natural fuel may be a good source or substitute for fossil fuel in future. An experiment is conducted to obtain the operating and emission characteristics of Undi Oil Biodiesel on Diesel Engine run on various Blends of biodiesel, Load Conditions and Injection Pressure. From the comparison of results, it is inferred that the engine performance is improved with significant reduction in emissions for the chosen oils without any engine modification. The effective injection pressure can be fixed based on the experimental results obtained in the engine since the findings of the present research work infer that the biodiesel obtained from Undi oil is a promising alternative fuel for direct-injection four-stroke VCR diesel engine.

Fossil fuels in near future will become rare due to its indiscriminate extraction and consumption. Therefore, biodiesel is considered as a promising option as they are clean renewable fuels and best substitute for diesel fuel in any compression ignition engine. There is a best source as a raw material that is calophyllum inophyllum (honne) oil for biodiesel production. As the oil yield of various oil sources for biodiesel feedstock Palm oil has potential of high productivity about 5950 liters per hectare, and followed by honne oil which have productivity of about 4500 liters per hectare. Our study is focused on the production of biodiesel by tranesterification and by thermal cracking and comparing the properties of these.

The experiment was conducted at constant conditions of engine load 3.0 kW and speed of 1500 rpm. The impact of 150 hours endurance test on injector nozzle deposition and engine parameters like Brake specific fuel consumption, Brake thermal efficiency, Brake specific energy consumption, Exhaust gas temperature, Carbon dioxide, Carbon monoxide, Hydrocarbon, and Oxides of nitrogen were investigated.
