The increasing number of large induction motors use as production equipment is realized to lower ... more The increasing number of large induction motors use as production equipment is realized to lower the electric quality due to electric shock every time the motor are started directly to the grid. It will adversely affect the performance of production machines around them so it is necessary to overcome the electric shock technically. Whena large induction motoris started,it has highly inductive nature which indicates that a large reactive power is required. The severe electric shock can be avoided if the reactive power demand in the conductors can be compensated from outside of the system. The discussion shows that the use of capacitors is able to reduce the voltage shock whenever a large induction motor is starteddirectly to the grid.

This condition is harmful to consumer especially industrial equipment because of the voltage shock that can damage quality of the industrial production. To solve this problem, should be equiped with the right capacity induction motor based on power system design, so that voltage shock that appears on every motor start will not exceeds specified limit. The maximum capacity of the motor allowed to start is determined based on the voltage shock criteria in the amount of 8% , 4% And 1,5% that valid in Indonesia.

Solar energy as a source of primary energy is a renewable energy. It is available abundantly in I... more Solar energy as a source of primary energy is a renewable energy. It is available abundantly in Indonesia. One of the technological utilization of solar energy into electrical energy is the use of photovoltaic or solar modules, called Photovoltaic Power Plant or PLTS. At present, the utilization of solar energy for power generation sources is growing rapidly in a wide range of power scaling. However, there is no standard was established in Indonesia in connection with the construction of photovoltaic power generation. Photovoltaic power plant currently purposed to speed up electrification ratio and reduce the consumption of fuel in remote area, which generally scale power plants below 1 MW. PLN as State Owned Electricity Company is responsible in raising the electrification ratio needs a technical standard that can be used by region office in planning and building a PLTS. This paper describes the base-configuration of photovoltaic system, important technical specifications of main equipment such as solar modules, inverters and batteries, the consideration to choose the capacity is also included.
