Cytogenotoxic effect of the carbamate insecticide carbaryl (Seven®) to live fish Channa punctatus... more Cytogenotoxic effect of the carbamate insecticide carbaryl (Seven®) to live fish Channa punctatus was studied. We analysed the induced sister chromatid exchanges (SCE) frequencies, chromosomal aberrations (CA), cellular proliferation rate in mitotically dividing cells of kidney and micronucle (MN) i in peripheral erythrocytes of Channa punctatus following in vivo exposure to three different concentrations of carbamate insecticide (Carbaryl). Our result revealed that the insecticide induced significantly high incidences of micronuclei in peripheral erythrocyte, chromosomal aberrations as well as sister chromatid exchanges, inhibited mitotic index and caused considerable delay in the generation time of kidney cells in treated organisms. The effects were found to be depend upon dose as well as period of exposure to the chemical. The experimental data showed carbaryl as cytogenotoxic to fish per se. These results have implications in the use of pesticides in the agricultural field.

The quality of sperm from Channa punctatus fish was assessed to determine as a suitable indicator of the effects of pollution in freshwater. The fish was exposed in vivo to three different concentrations (MC,MC/2&MC/5) of eight pesticides (Dimethoate, Dichlorovos, chlorpyriphos and Malathion, Methylparathion, Fenvalerate, Cypermethrin and Cabaryl) belongs to Organophosphates, pyrethroid and Carbamate group in different time periods (5,10,15,20,25days). Sperm head analysis and tail used as simple bioindicator for monitoring aquatic pollution in Channa punctatus subjected to breeding soundness evaluation were designated as unsatisfactory solely on the basis of sperm morphology highlights its importance. Though insufficient data refrain us from significant statistical analysis but will play significant role in further research of cytogenotoxic and teratogenic end point of aquatic pollutants on male reproductive physiology in this species.

In the present study, we analysed the induced mitotic index of dividing cells of kidney and micronuclei in peripheral erythrocytes of Channa punctatus following in vivo exposure of three different concentrations ZnSO4.7H2O. Our result revealed that Zinc induced significantly high incidences of micronuclei in peripheral erythrocytes, and inhibited mitotic index and caused considerable delay in the generation time of kidney cells in treated organisms. .Time and concentration related response of the chemical as observed in this study clearly indicated the genotoxic nature of Zinc Sulphate significantly i.e. (p≤0.05 to p≤0.01) .

Three different concentrations (MC, MC/2&MC/5) of eight pesticides (Dimethoate, Dichlorovos, chlorpyriphos and Malathion, Methyl parathion, Fenvalerate, Cypermethrin and Carbaryl) at different time periods (5, 10, 15, 20, 25 days) were treated. Peripheral blood samples smears of fish were collected and stained with Giemsa, micronuclei and nucleo-cytoplasmic abnormalities were analyzed under Germany made Leitz microscope. Qualitative analysis shows the rate of concentration, period, nature and mode of action of different agro-pesticides induces varieties of micronuclei and nucleo-cytoplasmic abnormalities even in the same species of fish Channa punctatus in the context of same/different pesticides in different species.

In the present study, we analysed the induced SCE frequencies, chromosomal aberrations, cellular proliferation rate in mitotically dividing cells of kidney and micronuclei in peripheral erythrocytes of channa punctatus following in vivo of Channa punctatus exposure to three different concentrations of a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide (Fenvalerate). Our result revealed that the insecticide induced significantly high incidences of micronuclei in peripheral erythrocyte, chromosomal aberrations as well as sister chromatid exchanges, inhibited mitotic index and caused considerable delay in the generation time of kidney cells in treated organisms. The effects were found to be dose dependent as well as to the period of exposure to the chemical. The experimental data showed Fenvalerate as cytogenotoxic to fish per se. These results have implications in the use of pesticides in the agricultural field.

Precise load forecasting helps the electric utility to make unit commitment decisions, reduce spinning reserve capacity and schedule device maintenance plan properly. It is therefore necessary that the electricity generating organizations should have prior knowledge of future demand with great accuracy. Some data mining algorithms play the greater role to predict the load forecasting. This research work examines and analyzes the use of artificial neural networks (ANN) and genetic algorithm (GA) as forecasting tools for predicting the load demand for three days ahead and comparing the results. Specifically, the ability of neural network (NN) models and genetic algorithm based neural networks (GA-NN) models to predict future electricity load demand is tested by implementing two different techniques such as back propagation algorithm and genetic algorithm based back propagation algorithm (GA-BPN).
