Peter Shaba is a veterinarian by profession.I obtained a Doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM) from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State. Nigeria.Master's and Ph.D. degrees in veterinary medicine from Division of Medicine, Deemed University, Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Uttar Pradesh (243 122), India.Research and Academic Experience: Academic and Research experiences either in the College of Agriculture or in collaborations with other research institutions within and outside Nigeria are not less than two decades.Research Area: Research in fundamental veterinary medicine, Alternative Veterinary Medicine Research (phytomedicine) dealing with infectious diseases, isolation, purification, and structural elucidation from natural sources for a future drug discovery/development with corresponding bioassays of such fractions/compounds against infectious diseases of potential candidates, and application of biotechnological tools in animal biotechnology research. This is besides other research fields of interest with colleagues such as the anatomy of domesticated animals and others.Current workplace: Department of Animal Health and Production Technology, Mpkwa, Niger State, Nigeria.Routine Duties: Veterinary clinician, Lecturing, Research, and other academic assignments.Number of Published papers: Book Chapters: Seven in three different textbooks.Journals: International 35 National 5Conferences: Presented not less than fifteen papers at international conferences. One of the Leading Scientists 2011 award in the arena of Veterinary Clinician/Scientist (Antitrypanosomal from medicinal plants and other sources by the International Biographical Centre at its Headquarters in Cambridge, England, U K.3. “Award of Honor” received in February 2012 by the Indian Society of Canine Practice during the International Conference on Modern Canine Practice (9-11/2/2012) held at Bikaner, India.4. Award for the best paper presented in the section on canine nutrition and behaviors at International Conference on Modern Canine Practice (9-11/2/2012) held at Bikaner, India presented during its annual conference at Goa, India in 2013. Any other remarkable point(s): Pure and partial purification of trypanocidal compounds with its structural elucidations of medicinal plants, prevalence, and identifications of zoonotic helminths (e.g. Giardia sp), a study of the prevalence of tuberculosis in slaughtered cattle in designated abattoirs for periods, and the fundamental study of anatomical structures of domestic animals.Reviewer of International Journals: A reviewer of more than twenty international journals from Africa, Asia, the United Kingdom, and the USA.
