This study was based on 20 key informants from the waste electrical power plant in Khon Kaen, as a case study. The data were analyzed with Process Flow Chart, Pareto chart, Risk Assessment, Cause and Effect matrix, Defect and Impact Analysis (FMEA), and Relationship Diagrams. The results showed the loss in the energy from waste process came from the stoppage of waste incineration. The study found that the reverse and forward stepping grate machine was a cause of the loss. As a result of the analysis, the loss reduction by analyzing the defects and the impact, it suggested increasing frequency of monitoring the distance (GAP) of the Grate Bar, installation thermometer under the continuous combustion chamber, and checking cleaning fan system every two hours . These guidelines could reduce loss in the energy from waste proce...

The guidelines to improve the efficiency of organizing hotel business conferences were proposed in the result of this study. The in-depth interviews and questionnaires were employed to collect the data from 21 hotel’s representatives. The Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) was used to analyze the collected data from the questionnaires. In order to analyze the productivity factors, several input factors were studied, such as delivery vehicles, size of conference room, maximum capacity for participants, size of parking lot, number of elevators, number of restrooms, provisional facilities, food and beverage cost, and number of staff. On the other hand, the output factor was the income of the hotels in organizing the international conference. It was found that the average technical efficiency: CRS model is 84%, whereas the average technical ...

Among the classified groups, medium size hotels represent the major group, but they cannot operate the business really well to support MICE events. This study aims to explore the efficiency of medium size hotels in operations management to organize MICE events. This study applies the mixed methods of questionnaire and in-depth interview to gain crucial information from participants who have worked in medium size hotels. The collected data are analyzed with Data Envelopment Analysis program. Results show that medium size hotels need to prepare operational cost, offer more conference rooms, hire more staff, provide more parking areas, create certain facilities, lend conference accessories, and arrange airport transferring vehicles. To improve efficiency as competitive advantage in MICE events of the medium size hotels in terms of operations management, lean management is suggested. The results of this research can be useful to medium size hotels in Thailand and other countries with similar business culture and beneficial to entrepreneurs in the business service sector.

The objective of this research is to measure the productivity increase rate of healthy juices to present the pathway of loss reduction in healthy juices with productivity improvement 4.0. The author collected data from informants through 14 activities, including observation and in-depth interviews, before analysing the received data with the Integration Definition (IDEF) process flow chart and value stream mapping using SPSS Statistics version 17.0. The study found that loss reduction in healthy juices takes place during the cutting, boiling, and pasteurizing processes. After checking the productivity increase in healthy juice production, the total time spending is eight hours and the rate of is 6.66 minutes/bottle; the total amount is 2,880 bottles, which is lower than the expected number. Therefore, the author offered the pathway for loss reduction in healthy juices with productivity improvement 4.0. The author also found that it is able to reduce the loss during the healthy juices production activity, resulting in the productivity increase to 4,000 bottles. Within eight hours, the productivity rate is 4.80 minutes/bottle, an increasing number of 38.88%. This increase benefits entrepreneurs to increase productivity efficiently and effectively.

The study was conducted by using self-administered questionnaires which were distributed to a sample group of 400 SME entrepreneurs in Khon Kaen Province, in the north-eastern region of Thailand. The data was analyzed using SPSS, in regarding with chi-square test, and multinomial logistic regression. By using the multinomial logistic regression, it shows that this method is able to predict the performance measurements related to business net profi ts of SMEs with an accuracy of 51.3%. It was found that, there are two factors, time and fi nance, signifi cantly aff ecting business profi t based on the results of the multinomial logistic regression models. As a result, performance measurement related to business profi ts of SMEs shows that SMEs entrepreneurs should focus on time and fi nancial factors. It could aff ect business profi ts at a high net of 15% or m...

The data was collected from grouping engines through analysis of life expectancy, duties, importance and vibration from 14 heavy machinery pieces, during which value changes were observed that were the causes of deterioration to synthesize the data for predicting maintenance from a smartphone application and analyzing the forecast by finding the appropriate time to inspect heavy machinery. It was discovered that every 15 days and 30 days were the most appropriate times for checking conditions. After preserving machines in good working condition, categorization was carried out by the working processes of different lengths of time, resulting in more accurate preventive schedules that can be constructed by using data chec...

Labor productivity improvement played a crucial role in increasing operational potential by suita... more Labor productivity improvement played a crucial role in increasing operational potential by suitably adjusting workers’ working patterns via waste reduction method. The purposes of this study were to evaluate labor productivity and to implement an approach to reduce waste in the carwash process. The data were collected from 16 key informants through participant observation and in-depth interview methods. The collected data were analyzed by several processes as follows: flow process chart, value-added activities, non-value-added activities but necessary and non-value-added activities, together with Why-Why Analysis, How-How Analysis, 5W1H and ECRS. The findings showed that, after the evaluation had been performed, the productivity scores of team A and B were at 1.85 and 1.96, respectively, car per labor hour. The researcher, thus, implemented an approach to increase labor productivity by reducing waste in the carwash process. It is found that the score of team A increased from 1.85 t...

This study used qualitative research methodology through informal and formal interviews and participant observation in addition to a wide literature analysis. The results found that most universities had the policies of promoting volunteer activities of students. The motivations and characteristics of students who participated in these activities included a spirit of service and sacrifice, self-development, and cultural understanding. Therefore, the universities, government agencies, and the private sector, especially the Ministry of Tourism and Sports should set clear policies to support voluntourism and increase students' motivation to engage in creative voluntourism. The ministry can also increase the income gained from voluntourism in Thailand, particularly from tourists who are students by developing tourism products that are consistent with the needs and expectations of the tourists.

When applied in a group environment, computation of AHP becomes more difficult and complicated. Although the geometric mean method (GMM) is known to be most common used with AHP for aggregation of judgments of the experts in the group, it may ignore variations among the experts' opinions. This paper proposed a group decision technique based on the preferential difference and rank concept. The proposed method used the preferential difference to accommodate strong opinions of the experts in the group while using the DEA/AR exclusion model to give more priority to the alternatives that were put in high ranks more often. The data set used by previous literature, simulated data sets and the case study of Thailand sugar industry for identification of the SWOT sub-factors with their priorities were used to test the effectiveness of the proposed method. In this paper, the group decision techniques by Huang et al. (2009), Angiz et al. (2012) and GMM were used as baseline methods to compare against the proposed method.

The results found that performance measurement for SMEs in the manufacturing sector in Thailand agreed with most variables at a high level, except for product usage and service at a medium level. When considering each entrepreneur individually, they had medium net profit at 11–15 %. When comparing performance measurements related to lean manufacturing, it was found that factors affected a high net profit of 15 % and they should continually work on it in order to ensure product quality, process quality, waste, defects, suppliers, work-in-process, output, lead time, delivery lead time, and inventory.
